    Default FV Engine Cases

I'm relatively new to FV and have been looking at engine case options for a rebuild. One thing I came across is discussion of the AS41 vs AS21 alloy cases. Does anybody know first of all whether AS21 is available in a type 1 or 3 case that we could use? Evidently a lot (all?) of these were F.I. cases with no port for the mechanical fuel pump.
In a perfect world given the rules, what's the best case to use?

How about a Turbo Porsche motor?

    Just kidding...could you imagine?
All that power with no brakes and no grip.

    Kinda like drag racing...with turns...

Unless the rules have change since I last checked, one must run a mechanical fuel pump which rules out an AS21 case. An AS41 replacement case is the norm.

    Default Usable cases?

I have a bunch of VW 1200 40hp cases (bolt on generator stand style) from my Dads early 70's inventory of racing FV and he worked at the VW dealer from that time...They were all as he described needing first time rebuild from a street car...circa 1972-5 when he was getting/hording them.
What items would racers need these days/what is hard to find...I need to clear out stuff.

    All input appreciated...

    Thanks,
    Mike Winebrenner

If the cases are AS41 duel oil pressure relief they are worth money to vee drivers since the current reproduction cases are expensive.

The crank and rods are also of interest. Not sure about the rest of the parts.

40 hp single port heads with the square lifter landings are also wanted.

I really appreciate all the info from the more experienced folks here.
I also have this link http://chircoestore.com/tech_articles/?p=156

My understanding is that the cases that have dual relief and can accommodate cam bearings are what were looking for. A few of those on the lists mention "no cam bearings" though I'm wondering how thorough these notes are.

Does anybody have a short list of type 1 and 3 cases with dual relief and cam bearings?
