With the USF cars now legal in the series, is there a move to bring them into SCCA FC also?

They are already legal in FA in the full USF2000 spec.

Ya Steve, that's what I meant. Anyone test a USF2000 car heads up against a top Zetec yet? Curious which one came out on top.
I haven't heard anyone but the press release says they have been doing testing for 6 months.
I guess sometime we will find out. I don't think there will be many cars available though as the engine and Trans are to be used on the new chassis next year so I see lots of rollers available but not many complete cars. Also there are plenty of 30 k competitive cars already for sale for FC or F2000 that would be better deals.

I believe Elite has developed the package. Rob Allaer ran a Mazda powered car in the National class at the St Petes USF event.

I think FS is the proper home for orphans
Agreed, but as Wren also already pointed out they have a spot to run in FA so that's two places. We don't need a third spot.
Also I can't see anyone stepping up to buy one of these cars when there are so many top notched FC's already for sale for far less money then what is currently be asked for from these cars.

is the MZR LD200 compatible?
Reliability due to the extra HP i assume?
After this year the USF spec will be a non issue as the cars will be obsoleted.
I really think this is an issue that will have little effect either way. To be fast in these cars, it takes development, tuning, preparation, cashflow, and of course, great driving. A few HP, one way or another, may effect the finishing order at the Runoffs but will have little effect otherwise. In USF for example, the cars are spec, with 18 years of development, yet we have 3 seconds difference in lap times with the same 3 teams at the front and same other teams at the back each week.

As far as I know the FC rules still require a Ford engine.
The USF2000 cars with full bodywork would make a great platform for P2. My two-seater Van Diemen (former Sports 2000) has essentially the same drive train MZR, with JFR 6-speed gearbox. With the free intake, and open ECU allowed in P2, it's pretty easy to make a bit more than 200 hp.
They could be tuned to the same spec and run as Formula S, too. I've used AEM, MBE and Motec M1 ECUs on these engines. Feel freet to contact me if you want more info on that.
So the FastTrack today seems to want to classify these cars as FA - unless I'm reading it wrong....
You are correct.

You are confusing the F2000 Championship Series with SCCA Club racing.
The USF2000 car is now permitted in our Series in its full USF spec with a specific ECU map and restrictor plate per the announcement last weekend in conjunction with Mazda support of our Series. The map/restrictor is dyno matched to the Zetec and we have on-track data to back that up.
Club admitted it to the FA 'catch-all' class.

I wasn't making any statements related to F2000 Champ.
I simply said the FastTrack (which is Club rules) classifies it as FA.
I thought FS was the catch-all/regional class...
The bonus here is a club racer can buy one today and (pretty much) race it in club tomorrow as is.
Umm...this is the Pro Series thread....and the initial post referenced it..no biggie
FA is also a catch-all class if you look at what's allowed per the GCR.

I thought this thread was about these car moving to club racing per the initial post. With the USF cars now legal in the series, is there a move to bring them into SCCA FC also? .
Catch-all can have different meanings I guess.
