    Default Sad, sad news

A lot of you guys knew him better than I did, but I always was happy to bump into Ian at the track and chat. A super guy and was very fast in a rental Club Ford probably ~10 years ago now. We will miss you as a friendly face in the paddock

Very sad. Ian was a great guy and a wonderful racer. The SCDA introduced me to track driving which led to racing.

Any details? The SCDA website is very vague.

Sorry to hear this. I remember Ian and his dad maybe 30 years ago. IIRC, they were racing a FF and a Fiesta IT car. I enjoyed their company at LRP and racing on track with them.

    Default A class act

Ian was a class act and will be missed. My condolences to Bill and Ann.

Its hard to believe the little boy I first met while working with his Dad in 1975 is gone.

    Peace, Ian.

Very sad news. I had the pleasure of hanging out (working? ) at Sasco for the summer about 18 years ago and met Ian, Trevor, and Elivan. All Great guys, all great drivers in their own right having gone on to successes and Championships in numerous racing avenues. Ian and Trev were kind enough to invite me up to Essex and hang out at the T-Bone Ranch for a few weekends. When we weren't there, the weekends were at a track wrenching, running, or watching. By Labour day that was it for me but I look back on that time with good memories.

Still remember Ian loading up the blue and yellow Crossle and new sets of tires into the back of the Sasco 5 ton and heading out to an SCCA event by himself to race and bust tires. Just a super guy and my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

    Default Rest in peace, Ian

Words cannot describe our sense of loss within the racing community. Ian was the genuine article. He brought professionalism, talent, knowledge, humility, and camaraderie to us. His talent behind the wheel was the envy of all of us. He also possessed a rare magnetism that engendered admiration by us seniors, and hero-worship by the young. Time spent with Ian was always rewarding…something to look forward to.

I join all of Ian’s friends in extending my sympathy to the Prout family during this time of unimaginable grief. I pray for the day when that deep sorrow will be replaced by warm, loving memories of this exceptional son, brother, and friend.

    Default Wonders really don't cease

especially with the loss of a friend, a son, the promise of youth; and oh so unexpected.
