    Default Veetech changing

I wanted to share, I have been having a motor built by Jim at Veetech. I am sorry to report that he has passed away. His family is presently making plans for a special memorial service in early October. His son, John, is wanting to keep the Veetech business going. I have been assured that the family will see that my motor will get completed, as some close friends are going to help get the remaining orders out.

Yes I mean Jim Wallschlaeger....did not have my notes out to spell his name correctly......I have talked with him my phone almost weekly for the past year as he was struggling with his health while trying to finish building a new engine for my Solo Vee. I was very impressed with his engine knowledge, and was looking forward to having a special engine.

Jim was a fantastic guy. Full of good stories and full of passion for racing. He was present the first time I ever stepped into a race car....Rich Sharpe had rented Blackhawk privately when I was about 12. Jim convinced Rich to let me take the car for a lap. I could barely reach the pedals. Jim and I were just laughing about this last time I saw him. Then there was the time he was prepping a FC for a customer who had to miss a session to go to the airport. Without hesitation Jim asked if I wanted to run the car for the session, fully aware I had never driven anything like it. But that was Jim - he had faith and trust in me well before others did.

His dedication was key and played a major roll in the races I've won. There were times I pushed him to get another set of heads finished so I could test them. Even when he was having a hard time standing from back pain he came through and did what was needed. He had a desire to win as strong as anyone.

When he wasn't able to make it to the track he would always be watching the live timing. After a race the first message on my phone would always be from him.

Him and I were just discussing what we can do for Mid-Ohio in 2016. He was super excited about returning there. I was so looking foward in trying to give Jim a victory at that track. I know it meant a lot to him. I'm deepely saddned that he won't be there now.

I know he will be watching the Vee race with great interest this year and beyond.

Thanks Jim - you will be missed.

    RIP.

This is really sad news. When I started out in FV nobody was more helpful in getting me up to speed than Jim. I spent many hours on the phone and in his shop absorbing decades worth of his experience. What a huge loss. RIP.
