Very sad. He just wished me happy birthday on Facebook. I'd met him once, years ago, but he always had time for a birthday greeting.
Very best to his friends and family.
So sad to hear. I would see Bob all the time at the various CenDiv events. He was a very nice guy. My condolences go out to Bob's friends and family.

KEEP THE KINK!
It is with a heavy heart that I report that my dear friend, competitor and vee legend, Bob Lybarger passed away last night. He raced vees from the very beginning of the class and his work as a VW dealer parts manager gave him incredible insight to the class and preparing fantastic vees. A long time friend of Bill Noble, he was an innovative transmission builder and teacher to many folks. He coached many national champions and his advice was sought by many.
As a driver. he won the June sprints twice, besting fields in excess of 50 cars. In his house were shelves and shelves of trophies from his many victories. In addition to vees he drove Atlantics and Super Vees.
After hanging up the helmet, he became a steward, served on the CRB for 9 years and the BOD for 6. He and his wife Pat, were Cen Div fixtures for nearly 50 years.
He was a true SCCA legend.
The above post is for reference only and your results may vary. This post is not intended to reflect the views and opinions of SCCA and should not be considered an analysis or opinion of the rules written in the GCR. thanks, Brian McCarthy, BOD area 9.
Bob was a good friend, and one of the best people in the SCCA racer community. He will be very well missed.
Please post when you hear about the funeral and memorial plans.
RIP Bob,
Condolences to family and friends.
Condolences to Bob's family and friends. Before I ever met Bob, I called him and he helped me acquire my SCCA license. When I finally met him, at Road America, he was just as nice a guy in person, and seemed so happy just to be around racers.
RIP Bob

One of the best FV races I ever ran against was Bob at Blackhawk. Lap after lap it was a battle of inches. It was a lesson taught by a master. It wasn't for the win, it wasn't even for a podium, but it was the most enjoyable race I ever ran. I am fortunate enough to have one of his last gearboxes and will run it with honor next season.
RIP Bob and thoughts and prayers to his family.
Thanks to Bob the history of his old Lola T460/560 FA car is complete. The Lola he once owned still runs at a few events every year, usually at the pointy end too. Bob sent me his old car cover for the Lola found in the back of the shop when he retired a few years back.
All the best to his family
What can I say? Bob was simply one of the all time great SCCA people ever. RIP Bob and my condolences to you family. Will miss our chats.

On my 54th year as an SCCA member
with a special thanks to every SCCA worker (NONE OF US WOULD RACE WITHOUT THE WORKERS)
Very sad news. Bob was one of a kind. He helped so many people and set an example we should all aspire to. Here's a brief online obituary: http://easyfhweb.com/mobile/obituary...0A.%20Lybarger
Such a great person and I learned so much from! Bobs mark on the SCCA and its members is endless.
RIP to a great guy.
From the first time I talked to Bob to the last, he was helpful and encouraging, full of honest, useful advice. I could always rely on Bob both on and off the track. We had many a great race at Blackhawk, RA and BIR, splitting the results over the years. Each race was followed by a friendly chat. My condolences to Pat and the family. We will definitely miss Bob around FV, especially here in the Midwest.
There are few examples of people who can be trusted to do business with and Bob is a prime example. He helped me with my 1st vee purchase and I counted on him for advice from then on. He was always there, whether on the phone or in person.
Thank You Bob
RIP
too many gone way too soon.
Best to Bob's family.
Even though I never even sat in a Vee, Bob always had a kind hello for me since meeting him in 1981 at Blackhawk.
We are losing way too many good people.
My heart just sank even lower.
Bob was a huge help to my dad and I when we really needed someone to give us some Vee guidance. He was friendly from the first time I met him at Road America when he gave me the calming advice "as long as you start in the first 5 rows, you have a chance to win at Elkhart." Of course this was when there were 15-20+ rows of Vees, but Bob always seemed to be in the hunt at the end. My condolences to the family.

Our condolensces to Bob's family. He was always there to answer my stupid beginner questions without passing any judgement on me because he really cared about the sport, and FV without question. It's appropriate that Bob passed during the Runoff's week and may he rest in peace!

I first met Bob at Blackhawk Farms way back in the 70's. Always a great racer and there to help anyone who needed it. Worked licensing after his driving was over and helped many a driver get back in the game. We will all miss you Bob! Tony Foster
Just wanted to post this and get it bumped up so everyone is up-to-date on the arrangements.
