Default Cat National - Attendance and Split Start?

As of now we have total race group of 24 cars. Currently 9 of those are FE with there being a potential of FC, FM, and possibly some of the SRs to intermingle with the FE group if we were to be mixed together. First of all, who else of the FE crew is planning on registering? Second of all, with this being a OFR series race, what's the likelihood of there being a split start? Some of those ArmsUp FC cars with their low drag aero setup at RA are sometimes impossible to draft around and pass safely. Ask me how I know!

Split starts sounds like a good idea

I vote no on a split start. It is no fun to have to try to get around a car that should be 5 seconds a lap faster, but is 4 seconds a lap slower with a 5-10 mph higher top speed.

That's why I'm thinking a split start would be better. If the FEs get a group and everything else is put on the other side of the track, we'd never see them.

Okay I'm being lazy. How many classes in the group? If there are like 7 classes and the average number of cars per class is 2 outside of FE and we have 11 I'd have to lobby for a split. Costa told us at Blackhawk that if we keep it up (car count) they'd consider our own run group or at least running with FF which has worked well in the past.

It's classified as "Big Bore Open Wheel" so it's the alphabet soup grouping. Here's the breakdown:

    Class Totals:

    Formula Atlantic: 1
    Formula 1000 (FB): 2
    Formula Continental: 3
    Formula Enterprises: 11
    Formula Mazda: 1
    Prototype 1: 6
    Prototype 2: 3

    I think it is probably 12 FE's!

Assuming Ryan Norman is running FE. He is listed as a FM with a car description matching an FA even though he has run all year in FE???

I am all for a split start. However, there has been a number of full course yellows and black flags that puts faster FEs behind slower cars and has caused a problem in the past!!!

    More cars signing up:

    FA - 1
    FB - 2
    FC - 4
    FE - 11(12?)
    FM - 1?
    P1 - 9
    P2 - 3

31 cars is a lot for this group.

Maybe we should ask to have them put P1/P2 in with Spec Miata?

I vote for a split...or put us with the FF, which I thought was great.

    I hope it rains

Running with FF would be better than the big open wheel/ SR grouping IMHO. I see we're back to being in the last or near last group again... do they think we like to sleep in on Saturday mornings?? And get home after midnight on Sunday...
