FWIW, none of these guys usually wind up actually being forum members. They don't waste their time joining the forums, they are just harvesting your e-mail address when you make posts looking for something specific. They only get your contact information when you post your address in an open post. It's why we always recommend using the forum PM system for buying and selling—it's a little easier to keep the riff raff out.

Nope I never post my email in ads and they contact me whenever I post one so some have to be members.

    Default SCAM Alert: Please Read

Are they contacting you through PMs or through the forum e-mail system? None of the listed e-mail addresses are registered in these forums.

If you posted your needs on other forums, they could be coming from there, as well.

Chris Wright is not a user here.

Quite often these people are not as stupid as they appear. Two methods come to mind one is you sign up as a regular users under a different name and harvest data that way. The other way is often the php programing is hackable since most of them use common code and there are various websites that provide not so nice programing tips to get information from public bulletin boards such as this.

Motec ADL2 and PDM32 I need an ADL2 dash and a PDM32 box for an ALMS restoration installation. The PDM32 is still available from motec - looking for cheaper. I know all the alternatives but that would require new car chassis harness and we don't want to go there Phil

I got one a few months back too.
    Quotated thusly:

    Hello,

I really hope you get this fast. Sorry for any inconvenience, but I'm in a terrible situation right now,i need your help.Few days back we made an unannounced vacation trip to Philippines. Everything was going fine until last night when we were mugged on our way back to the Hotel. They Stole all our cash, credit cards and cellphone but thank God we still have our lives and passport. Another shocking is that the hotel manager has been unhelpful to us for reasons i don't know. I'm writing you from a local library Cybercafe. I've reported to the police and after writing down some statements that's the last i had from them.I contacted the consulate and all i keep hearing is they will get back to me, i need your help,i need you to help me out with a loan to settle my bills here so we can get back home . I'll refund the money as soon as i get back. All i need is $2,850USD or whatever amount you can afford to spare me with .Let me know if you can get me the money then I tell you how to get it to me.

Just a heads up for you guys
1 we Brits do not send emails and state our location
That is from what I see an American thing to do due to the size of the country
    UK is a lot smaller
2 rare we would put tel no in email
More likely to mention number to call in within a sentence
Our cell numbers start 07 so note the office no with 44 7
    Our land lines are 44 1--- or 44 2::::
3 no mention of your specific item for sale means paste copy spam email to various ads

We get them here as much as you guys do

If in doubt, Google search the e-mail address with quotes around it. As expected, that address comes up with an identical scam in Porsche, Alfa, motorcycle and even vintage bike forums.

Like junkmail and phone scams, criminals wouldn't do this sort of thing if it didn't have a relatively high rate of success.

I recently had no less than three tries by the same schmuck. It was in reference to a firesuit I had posted on RACING JUNK and 3 weeks AFTER the ad expired he texted and asked if it was still available. Syntax looked exactly what's been posted here so I was leery right up front but played along....right up til he explained that he'd send me a check and I had to refund it in order to make it easier for his "shipper" to do his thing. I told him "No Thanks" and left it at that. Two days later I get another test from a DIFFERENT number as if I hadn't caught on the the first. I again told him I was on to the scam and to go away. LAST WEEK I got yet another from the same number....they just don't give up....

Pretty good scam running now out of a Florida double-wide address... please beware of any "offers" of parts from:

    James Keepler
    2410 Weiberg Rd,
    Haines City, Fl 33844

or John or Robert Keepler or Patissia Keepler

E-mail addresses are spares.jameskeepler09@gmail.com or something similar.

Anyone asking you to make a payment in a wire transfer or Western Union is 99.9% going to be a scam. The first red flag should be when someone says something like, "my PayPal account was hacked," or "I hate PayPal," or "I was locked out of my PayPal account."

Run like the wind. Then post their info here so that it turns up in Google searches. I can't understand why some forums delete this type of information from their databases.

    Default me too

Are you still in the market? It would be much better if you let me know all that you require. Perhaps, a contact phone number will be best too. E-mail me on raphlauren682@gmail.com

    "Hi Ej,

Thanks for writing again. Unfortunately, I am rarely available by
phone and it's almost impossible to reach me. Though we can always
wrap it up on here as I check my e-mails frequently on a daily basis.
Also, I will take $450.00 including shipping via FedEx to the provided
delivery address. I am in Hinesville, GA 31313 and I need you to let
me know if we have a deal and I will e-mail details for payment via

    Money Gram.

    Many thanks again and regards,

    Raphael"

    "Raphael

I do not pay by Money Gram - too many scams

BUT luck will have it will be less than ten miles from Hinesville GA over the nest week so....
I will meet you at a neutral site (by example - the parking lot of the Hinesville PD's office -123 E M L King Jr Dr, Hinesville, GA 31313 ), inspect the shocks and pay in cash

Please send tel number so we may conclude the deal and speak by phone -

    EJ"
