I built this car with a Kohler 6 cylinder engine as a FC in late '70's. The car was based on the air cooled FSV Citation-Zink Z14. The Z14 started life as a Zink Z11 but with a monocoque chassis. It was lighter and way stiffer than the Z11 FSV from which it was derived. This might have been the fastest air cooled FSV built. On oval tracks it was really good.

This car should be rebuilt as it was designed.

It looks like it's listed under Race Cars Not Street Legal (that's even in the link you posted).

Most of the owners of projects like that expect prices to be the same as when the car was built.

That was a fun car to build originally and had a gorgeous paint and stripping job. The original engine was custom and built from what was a popular DSR engine at the time.

Well it will be fun to watch what this ends up going for, since it is a no reserve auction. There were some old log book photos posted in the ebay ad of the car in FC trim with the khoeler motor; six pipes poking out the back under the wing. And yes, a very attractive black/gold paint job. Looked cool as an FC.

This will probably end up going for about the same number of clams as I paid for my Lola 340/Nissan DS-R project, but looks like it woud be much lighter, stronger, and safer; a much better starting point. It would be great if someone would take the time and money to put it back on the track, particularly if they put it back as a 2 stroke FC car.

    happy new year, gang!

If anyone is serious about buying this and putting it back to FC config, I'd be interested in the engine.

Here's a link to the in-car video from Mid Ohio. Definitely a two-stroke when the video was made:

It's a 12A - the engine from the 1st gen Rx7s. I don't think this is legal for FM, I think they use the 13B engine from the 2nd gen Rx7s and I also think they have to be stock ports. I just like rotory engines way to much. Bridgeport 12A is kinda cool with the Webers on it.

They sure do. They are kind like 2-strokes, more so than they are like a 4 stroke. And they are LOUD! Only prod car that I ever had to get really good ear plugs to drive.

Nothing can compare with the 6 cylinder, 2 stroke, Kohler that was in the car originally. That was 2 stroke on steroids.

I was behind Jason Miller's CSR car on grid a few years ago in a morning warm up; the only time I had to use a tear-off while standing still. On a positive note, there was not a mosquito in sight.

I have no idea. I believe it was some kind of experimental deal that some Kohler employees were doing.

Fast forward to the 6-minute mark for some clean laps in Jason's two-stroke:

I believe Miller Sr. was the Kohler corporate pilot and was the driving force behind the use of Kohler sled motor parts to make the four and six cylinder boxer engines for road racing. This was roughly the same time AMW was making a four cylinder two stroke engine. Based on the number of engines Miller per et fils use for SCCA and vintage racing I have to believe they could come up with a replacement for this chassis. May be pricey however.
On the other hand, if you want a four cylinder boxer two stroke engine, call Mike Ruepert. He makes the Arctic Cat based engines used in one of the Nostendo P2 cars.
