"An analog man living in a digital world"
Just got back from seeing it. In a word - Wow.
Not a great "racing" movie, but definitely an intense, edge-of-your-seat human drama about two of the worlds best that was told as well as anything I have ever seen - even those who may actually hate racing will love it.
OK, Opie. What's next?
racerdad2...
thank you
Okay, saw it last night and expect to go back for another fix. It goes without saying that Howard really amped up the drama level - times ten!! Somehow he decided not to show the elegance or grace of the sport, something that could have been a complement to the ten-tenths aggression he emphasized. He chose to portray Hunt and Lauda as really nasty, angry competitors - a bit over the top in my book. I have seen a great picture of the two sitting and chatting on the pit wall after Niki got back in action. It's a different "picture" of their relationship. The scene where Hunt beats the crap out of the reporter also showed a huge ramp-up to make a point. Artistic license? The number of wheel-banging incidents was over the top and coveys a fundamental untruth to viewers who don't know much about GP racing - at least as it was in that era.....( okay, okay, then came Schumacher....but that's another story!! Ooooo and I almost forgot...Senna too !! ) Hats off to Ron Howard in any case. Pretty damn exciting film.
The British GP at Brands Hatch did not get major time in "RUSH", but here's an album of my photos from that memorable day

"An analog man living in a digital world"
we have Hunts winners champagne bottle, signed, from his Glen win in 77. If someone is dumb enough to transfer $5M it will be crated by tomorrow. Also have McLaren, fittipaldi pistons from his championship season again if you are silly enough........
just looked have a Hunt piston as well from south Africa 76, just raking in the money here !
Ok blanket deal $12M and I'll throw in the Graham Hill piston. Surely there will be a stampede of offers.

The movie was great!!! Finally saw it today.
Gotta take some of the stuff with a grain of salt, but as was stated before, there has to be enough off track drama to entice the mainstream non race nut audience.

So I went and saw it again. For me it was great to be ready for the unusual camera angles. Wheels going on at pit stops etc. The interesting angles were the ones just before Lauda's crash. Showed a bolt or nuts coming loose on maybe an upper link/control arm. My question is what really caused his crash back in the day? The possibility of a suspension problem is very good, but just wondering if anybody really knows what happened.
I would rather be making racing news than reading it. Living the dream out here in the middle of farm country
Speculation in the team at the time was a left rear suspension link failure. There wasn't enough left of the car to ever be sure.
Caldwell D9B - Sold
Crossle' 30/32/45 Mongrel - Sold
RF94 Monoshock - here goes nothin'
For those in attendance @ '13 Monterey Historics, the 312T2 in attendance had a left rear suspension failure - saw it personally - no pic though ! The upper shock link apparently failed and cause the chassis drop on the spring perch, then move to the rear at the camber link and "re-arrange" the alignment through bending and binding.

Finally saw it last night, it made it to the local budget theater that I could afford.
Wonderful. Very good detail accuracy, as Ron Howard promised. A tolerable amount of dramatic license. The best mainstream commercial racing film ever? Easily.
