Hello the pictures and video seems to be from July last year. Do you have some recent close up pictures and if anything has changed since last summer? Thank you.

Pictures and video are correct from 7/12. Car was rolled back in to barn and has not been out to any tracks. I do start it periodically and run it for 10 minutes.

    Default Body Width?

I see several specifications listing the wheelbase as 96” and the width as 64” front and 61” rear. Sounds very narrow… I’m guessing the width figure is the track? Can you tell me what the body width is (I’m guessing 70” – 72”)

    Thanks,

    Craig

I forgot this tidbit...2 generations from this car and a ton of money in development yielded the FASTEST CAR AT THE 2012 RUNOFFS...with an under 2 min lap at Road America...need I say more...just an example of the outer limits of sports racers in general.

This is a bone stock car and I regularly enjoy spanking porsches and even more enjoyment spanking ferraris at track days and I have never gone home with less than FTD at the 2 autoxes I did. My 2nd 99 r1 motor was $700 on ebay.

take fun and cost factors you have quite a ride.

Have you ever run a track day with a Radical in your run group? If so how did the Stohr compare to the Radical?

I used to hammer a malloy with a busa in it and have "never seen" radicals at the glen...meaning we are running similar lap times and was smoked by a radical once but Jean-Luc 8 ball was driving so it all depends. In theory Stohrs should be faster than Radicals in dsr due to weight and better aero.

    Post Stock Yamaha -- 150 HP ? seems a little optomistic ?

Is that 150 HP for the STOCK 1999 R-1 Yamaha a little optomistic ?

Is that HP # at the rear wheels ?, at the case output gear ? or a factory number at the crank shaft with no accessories ?

Do you have a dyno sheet on that ?

Or what the source of that HP number is ?

    Thanks.

    Post to swap engine

IMHO, The engine in there has little to no value for road racing for me for running in SCCA nationals, Just not enough power to keep up at the front of the pack, But it is certainly OK for track days & he has won top time of the day at auto crosses. The winning motor now-a-days for SCCA road racing is the Suzuki GSXR 1000.

The early chassis were built kind of like the F F's - built for one engine only. It is a true flat bottom car as is, BUT, it could also be converted to a tunnel car for an extra conversion charge like a WF-1, but that requires another major conversion of replacing the whole floor for the whole car it to is not cheap..

I talked to Stohr in Oregon & they quoted $ 10 K to redo the back of the chassis to change the engine over -- plus must buy the replacement engine & wiring loom, special door oil pan to stop oil starvation, etc, etc...

If your an expert welder the kit is like $ 3.5 k plus labor to do it your self for an aftermarket kit. Of course you must keep everything aligned in a jig or something or the chassis will tweek & then you would have a real problem.

So for use in SCCA road racing its like buying a roller chassis & then do the engine conversion & then get another engine & then assemble it. So its a project car if your thinking of being competitive in SCCA road racing. The engine in there was only an E-Bay engine at like 700 bucks any way.

But it is the prettiest car I have seen in a while. I am tempted as well when I look at the pretty face this car has.

    Good Luck.

    read the thread here http://dsrforum.yuku.com/topic/9683/.../#.UYaEc6WRzfg

for info on changing to gsxr

if you are in the east John Weisberg/Berg Racing can do it easy.

but even the $700 motor from ebay will smoke porsches and ferraris all day long.

I will likely keep the car on apex for another week at 19999 which I think is a steal for the package and then put it on ebay.

    Post nice car

Great Track day car. Great Auto Cross car. Absolutely it is a nice car.

I believe you that it smokes & beats almost every street car at Track Days.

I like the car, very attractive car.

You have taken good care of it for the 9 years you have had it.

I am very tempted to make an offer on the car, just $ 19K is not the number.

    Beautiful car.

    Thanks.
