    Post

I attended my first EWC event at Road America this weekend and had a great time, (sort of).

My first lap of Saturday practice I blew a head gasket and lost all of the water out of my engine.
A couple of guys came over and helped me diagnose the problem. Without spare parts I was about to pack up and head back to Cheboygan, Michigan (335 miles). Well about that time John Vlasis came over and when I told him of my problem, he said..."Your sure as hell not going home, were going to get you back on the race track". So thanks to him, Bill Bergeron and Tom Tipsword, the car was ready for Sunday mornings practice, which went perfect for me. But on lap three of the Sunday race the inlet from the fuel cell to the fuel pump came off, so I parked in turn one for the rest of the race.

WHAT I REALLY WANT TO SAY IS...what a terrific group of people compete in formula ford, not one of these great guys had I ever seen before in my life and they were there within minutes to help me out.

So again I say thank you, thank you, thank you and I really look forward to meeting you all again next year.

    All the best.

Results: Overall winner Sat. Jim Roberts DB-1, Bill Luxon very close second; Sunday Bill Luxon won (Piper) after Vlassis dropped out with broken floats. CFF Crossle all the way but I don't have results sheets at hand. I must add my thanks to this post as well. On Saturday Rick Roellig (sp?)launched his CFF off my right rear corner and spent some time sliding toward turn 7 on his helmet after the Tiga roll bar folded backwards. Thankfully Rick is o.k. although the car will need some work and his helmet was a write-off. I had most of the parts for my DB-1 but borrowed rotor from Roberts, CV joint from Vlassis and oil fittings from Joe in the Moroso ADF. Thanks to all of you as without the loans and my crew chief Spencer Johnson up from Huntsville, AL I would have been on the trailer before the chicken was served Saturday night. Tony F.
