Damn. That's clean. And a tight fit (no pun intended).

What'd you do with the Ford engine? :-)

Sean, what was the problem? HPD sent you a bolt-on kit. Should've only taken a weekend. :-).

Just joking, of course. It looks great and I know you're going to enjoy it.

    Default Pinto

    Hey Mike

Sold the pinto to a S2 driver That was lookign for a good spare engine. Sold it for a liitle these then i planned, but it was taking up to much space in the garage.

    Hey Russ

The engine and gearbox went together perfectly. I am very anal about having my wiring, and all parts perfect so i have less problems later on. The Hpd kit is great, but could use a little more work on the instruction manuel. Will send more pics as it goes.

    Default new parts

I will also be adding an airbox type system for the engine. The guys at HPD said that it would be a good idea if i could make it work.. I am also having rick at aerocraft make a 1 peice engine cover instead of having to glass the supplied unit. He will also make a mold for future VD honda kits for people. . Will send out pics of the airbox and future work soon.

A thoroughly sealed cold air intake duct is definitely worthwhile:

I'll have to stop in and check it out in person on one of my trips to Raisin town. So you have a target track day?

Default Protect harness to crank sensor

Looks great, but you should make a heat shield running down to the crank sensor. Heat is the enemy for the Fit harness. Here's a shot of what I did, your exhaust probably runs down and out so protect the sensor. Either way it gets hot on that side. Good luck.

    Default heat shield

    Thanks Mike

I will put that on my list of things to do. I was also thinking of heat shielding the oil line from the tank to the engine because the exhaust goes right along next to it. Thanks everyone for all your help. Will keep sending in more pics.

Finish the plumbing, fill it with fluids, plug in the ECU and harness temporarily, forget the airbox and brackets and fire it up.

There I just saved you a lot of time and you get the reward of hearing your creation run much sooner. You're welcome. :-).

Are you already to go racing?? I did some changes on my fuel system because i am going to use the optional kit with fuel pressure so i tapped another 1/8 npt into the supplied fittings so i could install the fuel test port on the same piece.

Nope, not ready yet. I'm in the process of repairing my car from my bad weekend at Watkin's Glen in October. My car is a bare frame right now although all the wiring is still in it. I should have a new belly pan on it this weekend and then I can start putting everything back together. I won't race until April so I have some time.

I always fire one up to test the wiring & oil pressure before I hook up all the water hoses also, don't need no stinking cooling to just run a minute or two.

Thanks. Just trying to do it right the first time. Hate going to the track to and work on the car. The airbox is taking some time, but will force a lot of air into the engine. HPD said that it would help.. Chuck- send me pics of your car. I have always ran the red/yellow/ black combo on my winged cars..

Looks good, Sean. I'm sure HPD knows better than anyone if there's a benefit to ramming air to and thru a 30.5mm hole, but I have my doubts! Regardless, I like the way your airbox is looking, but make sure the air filter inside it (assume there's one in there?) does what the rule says so's you avoid any potential protest/penalty box issues. Not that it's ever happened in SFR....

from the GCR... "The upper manifold, air box and throttle body assembly must be used as delivered from HPD. External throttle return springs are unrestricted.

    a. Air filters are unrestricted. All air entering the engine must pass through the air filter prior to entering the throttle body. No devices such as, but not limited to, air horn(s), trumpet(s), bell mouth(s), velocity stack(s), vortex generators and or turning vanes are permitted inside the air filter or between the air filter and the throttle body. "

See you at the track, and good luck with getting it finished!

    Hi Dave
This filter has a cone shaped element inside like the z-tech FC engines have. It does not have a trumpet, or velocity stack in it. I did read over the rules a lot before i bought it. I just wanted to make sure the engine got as much air as it needed. Thanks for watching out for me.
