Default The Improved Touring Sports Racer, Yea, Run with the IT Guys

This is kind of a Home Builder Class, All use the same Cockpit Center Section
[See: www.daytonaprototypelight.com New pics will be up at the end of Sunday

The Improved Touring Sports Racer will race in the SCCA Improved Touring Enduro Groups, only in the 1 1/2 hour Enduro Races, with the former Street Cars.
In SCCA Sprint Races they will run with other Sports Racers, if they are compatible. The 1 1/2 hour IT races may be the most fun you can have with a drivers suit on.

This is not yet approved The, 1 1/2" Tube cars are strong enough.

Keep in mind that it is IT - Racing, DOT Slicks, Mostly OEM Parts, H - Pattern Shifting, Like a Single Seat Mid 1960?s Handling, Modern Aero Pkg, Sports Racer running wheel to wheel with street cars. The IT Cars have 5" of Ground Clearance, the IT - SR's will have 3" to 3.5"

2 Classes: all have an Open Aero Package like the A Sports Racer Rules. The Engine Mods are Per SCCA IT Rules, with an on board Computer Manager

1: a 1600cc class: Miata Front Suspension with OEM Brakes, Then Put a Front Wheel Drive assembly in the mid for the drivetrain, the engine Mods are more or less Per Improve Touring Rules. Open Top or Closed Top Chassis and an Open Aero Package, Per the SCCA: A - Sports Racer Rules.

2: a 2800cc class, this class can also run a Stock 636cc Bike Motor Chain Drive. This class gets a Wilwood Big Brake Kit or Front Suspension like the Palatov GT (Miata or the 4 Lug LT for the Bike Motor Cars on all 4 corners).

The Main Spec Part is the 1 1/2" .095 Tube Chassis Center Section, Main Hoop to the Knee Hoop. I hope some one can help with a little CAD work so that a complete CNC Cut and Bent tube kit of the Center Section can be ordered. The CAD File of the Center Sections ( Open Top & Closed Top ) will be available to anyone. It is necessary that the cockpits are very strong, as they will be racing with 2700lb + cars and the same Center Section is better for driver extraction. They fit an Aluminum Road Race Seat, or if you are over 6? 1? tall a fabricated / poured foam seat can be installed. This cockpit is big, but it is very comfortable for an endurance race.

A 3rd class could be for the old Ford SHO 3.5 v6, Honda 3.2 TL, 3000cc motors with throttle bodies or a Stock new 1000cc or old DSR Chain Drive Motor. I would want a Closed Top 1 3/4" Tube Center Section. This would be a 6 Wheeler with 4 Miata Front or 4 Palatov 4 Lug LT suspensions on 225-45-15 front tires. Palatov, SCT or anyone could offer a complete welded front chassis with their suspension set up. As this may be a little much for a homebuilder.

There are a lot of places this could go, but I am going to go low hanging fruit first. Why six wheels?

Is this something that is currently running or is this a trial balloon?

Like we need another class, there is already like 486 what's 1 more class with 2 cars racing for the world championship that pays a beautiful shinny $9 trophy and a few paper flags.

How about a 10 wheel version(4 pair in the rear) and 1 in the front for the sand drag racing they have out west? You could raid the "boneyard" at Davis Monthan at night and pickup a nice motor off an F100 Super Sabre. You could call the class "IT" instant transition....and the enduros would only last 15 sec or so to save on fuel.

I can't tell if this is a joke, a troll or a veiled attempt at an illegal promotional advertising post. Either way, this one is done.
