Doesn't seem to be anything orgainized by VoA, SCCA or anyone in the US. From what little info is floating around, looks to be a 100% "Euro" deal that is taking place at Daytona.
Is anyone from FV (vintage or current era) in North America involved?

"Wait, which one is the gas pedal again?"
Thanks Mark, obviously I missed it!

I know that Jeremy Grenier brought a few cars down for it.

VW of Germany was the main organizer of this. VW of America was brought on at the last minute to help finish off the details and orginization of the event. VW of America contacted me a week ago and asked if I could bring my car down. I really wanted to, but with such short notice there was no way. 2 day tow one way, 3 days at the event = over a week away.
It's a shame VW of America wasn't brought up to speed on all of this by VW Germany much earlier in the process. We could have done something really cool - perhaps even have had a FV race before the start of the 24. Our 50th FV event should have been held in conjunction with this!
Either way, I thanked VW of America for all their support of our racing, and it seems like they understand VW's involvement in motorsports all started with FV -a good sign for future support.
I saw something somewhere that said that Lisa Noble would be there as would Bill Noble's car (I THINK it said formcar, but not sure).

The quote from VW of
"... the continuous promotion of juniors has been even more successful"
I figure there must be a VW Juniors class somewhere in Europe - probably Germany. Anyone know? One of those links above has an "FF looking" car with that quote over it.. related?
Steve, FV80
The FF looking car is a GAC, British FV, although I think the car in the photo is kit that was sent to Israel (if I remember correctly). I ran one before I moved to this side of the pond.
The German F/Vau series uses VW Polo water cooled engines with wings and slicks. This maybe the VW Junior class mentioned. Wing and slick versions of the GAC have run in this class.
Guy.
I think Fred Clark will be there or have cars there.
Fred was approaching the FV guys at PBIR, as he had just then heard about it. I certainly did not get the impression that they were looking for FV bigshots. If I lived in that area and had a FV, I would certainly contact Fred or Lisa and volunteer. It was too far for me to even consider.

Daytona was the very first place a FV race was held.It took place at lunch time by 4 cars and a fifth car was disassembled on green outdoor carpet. This was done because the bod and the pres. were there and they wanted to start this new class.

Warning: FV in Germany has transformed a touch.

"Wait, which one is the gas pedal again?"
My German is a little rusty, but that looks like a BJ front beam and a swing axle to me = same trans ? I see it (the Polo) started at 1300cc, went to 1800, and now to 2L. What size motor is in this baby?
Polo has been around a while too - since '75.
Steve, FV80
It's a 1300cc Polo engine, with the swing axle transmission inverted akin to a Hewland.
FV was introduced to Europe with as a 1200cc formula, but Britain and Germany quickly adopted the 1300cc air-cooled engine, as this was the more common Beetle engine in Europe. So when they introduced the water-cooled engine it seemed logical to stick with the 1300cc engine capacity. They have also kept the 15" wheel size.
To me it looks like Fv in Germany is Super Vee. FV junior is the 1300 with ball joint frt ends. We did 7 laps behind the pace car for pic's today. We will be doing 4 or 5 laps on Sat morning before the 24hr. Not sure if we will be able to pass or still have to stay in line. VW Germany started this. VoA has only known about this for just over 2 weeks from what I understand. The Nardi is hear. Fred brought 2 cars, Bill's car is hear from Topeka, Lisa, Oseth, Duke, Ira, and my car are hear. I was told there would be 27 cars. 11 from Germany and 5 of those are super Vee's. There were 2 SV outside the tent. Micheal Andretti's name was on one. Once the display is setup I will post some pic's.
Jeremy
Thanks for the update, Jeremy.

Sam Ashtiani, one of the owners of AVR Motorsports and a FV driver posted these pics on Facebook so he gets the photo credit. Hope he doesn't mind me sharing them with everyone here!

Hi there,
we had a wonderful week in Daytona as guests from VW Motorsport of Germany.
We - www.formel-vau.eu - sent 11 Vees to Daytona.
The red Lola T620 - No. 501 - is our car. Unfortunately, we had problems with
the ignition and can?t drive the demorace.
We would like to thank all of the american guys, for helping us to find the failure.
Espacially Lisa Noble and Wolfgang Hustedt (Bosch) - thank you very much!!!
