There is lots of "royalty free" music that is available for download. I doubt the music in question is free. I am sure Speed can tell us who to contact to get permission and rates. I will contact them if that is the route we want to take. I am guessing it's more than we want $.

I am pretty sure that if you use copyrighted music you are able to use up to 30 seconds of that song. I will double check with a few people.

That is the guideline (30 secs) for using music to critique, preview etc. (fair use laws) However to use copywrited music in a professional ad, etc. requires permission or license. (Certainly to be safe from lawsuit.)

While the current music is stirring and appropriate for the subject I think the words (got a few suggestion but more are needed) are more important. I tried to squeeze three lines in and I barely could.

A friend of mine writing his third book on American Popular Song says the year 1926 is now the last year that copy writes can be ignored. Next year we move to 1927. So a prudent alternative is necessary. I'll ask a music professor at Eastman if he can get a few students to do custom background sound for us. Thirty seconds worth shouldn't be a big deal.

The song "Roll Out the Barrel" a.k.a. "Beer Barrel Polka" was written in 1927 and seems to be fairly appropriate for this group once the final checker of the day is flying.....

There are several sources on line for royalty free music. For a fixed fee, looks like $50 or so, you get unlimited use. I haven't listened to any of it but its another way to go.
