[8-13-2012 -- Bumped. Would sure like to see some pre-84 S2000s come to this event. As noted, RMVR recently expanded eligibility to include those cars. They are sort of unknown to our current members so having some at the Sports Racer Challenge might stimulate interest in the cars as a new class in RMVR. Feel free to call with any questions. - RJA]
While there was a posting here some months ago, Labor Day weekend is fast approaching and I just wanted to again extend an invitation to the new ApexSpeed sports racer community to attend the Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing (RMVR) Labor Day event in Pueblo, Colorado. No, we're not on fire and the worst of the heat wave seems behind us.
This Labor Day Extravaganza weekend event includes a special feature grid, the Bobsy Reunion & Sports Racer Challenge. When was the last time you got to race your vintage sports racer in an all SR grid????? Maybe never???? Come join us and help make it a memorable event.
As the keeper of www.BobsyRegistry.com, I had the idea of a Bobsy Reunion. But realizing that there aren't enough of these vintage Bobsy SRs to get our own grid, the idea of a vintage sports racer challenge made sense for this one-time event. Ironically RMVR has six of the running Bobsys within our membership (only about 23 are still running in the U.S.) With the already committed Bobsy owners from outside RMVR, we hope to have about 10 of them on track. One is coming all the way from New Jersey, Amazing! Then add in the bevy of other RMVR sports racers and we've got a great start on a neat grid. Then with SRs from outside RMVR, we could have a really, really nice grid.
Entry fee is quite reasonable ($325 to non-RMVR members, $250 for anyone a member of another vintage organization). And track time will be generous.
We'd really love to see other sports racer folks join in the fun. Any and all displacements, makes, and classes of vintage pre-1984 SRs are welcome. We're especially anxious to see some of the early S2000 (Pre-84) cars since they are now RMVR eligible.
