    Default Montreal

just got back from montreal, after a trying weekend for us, to the news of brian's injury at lime rock. kinda puts things in proper perspective. the 1600 kids (BN & GG) did the series proud with both being ultra competive with honda's that were restricted slightly below the better kents there. "dbl G" pulled a third on saturday where a blanket covered 1st-3rd. he led on sunday at one point and finished 4th. again, about 2 car lenghts covered 1st-4th.
the candian series seems to copy the 1600 series here...or vice versa. it's run with incredible efficiency with no sacrifice to enjoyment. marcel and the rest of his team do an amazing job while taking great care of the teams..... rand with an accent.

while the weekend for us overall was pretty much a disaster from a racing perspective, montreal is montreal, and we had a pretty good time otherwise. while i always maintain a no evidence position and that pictures are for people with bad memories, my team mate unfortunately (for him) doesn't always share that position.

entry for the montreal pro 1600 race......................................$1500

transportation, hotels, diner, and extracuricular activities..........$4000

blown engine, burned back, and fire damage...........................$7000

    but........this picture is absolutely........................................ ....PRICELESS!!!!

We were parked right beside you guys with our RF92. It was neat to meet some fellow Apexers(sp?).

Sorry your race weeknd was so crappy, but you guys looked like you had a good time anyway. Weather was great all weekend, but for half an hour Friday night.

we really went there with the intention of having a good time and rolling the car back in the trailer, which we sort of did. we had a great time. everyone was fantastic. we can't wait to come back next year, although it'll almost certainly be in someone elses car. i was glad to see you make sunday. the kid is a fantastic driver.

We had a great time up there. Met many wonderful people and the City was fantastic.

Stephen, your car is immaculate and the driver is quite fast and most definitely personable. It was great to meet you all. Thanks for the loaner air compressor.

    Look forward to next year.

The air compressor is a bit anemic, but I'm glad it did the job. Happy to help. Better luck next time guys.

    Stephen,

Did you drive this particular RF92 in the old Esso Protec f1600 championship?...if so, is it the car you won the '92 championship with?

    Hi Aaron,

No, it is not the same car, although a lot of people ask me that because is it has very similar graphics to my RF91 that I had in '91.

In '92 I ran an '89 Reynard F2000 car that we converted back to F1600, because the week after I bought the car they cancelled the Export 'A' series here in Canada.

Thanks for remembering an old guy.

You're welcome...I used to watch you, Bruno Bianchi, Marc Montmigny, Didier Schraenen, (maybe Martin Guimont was in 1600 then?) et al when the series was televised...so thanks for entertaining me!...that was great racing, along with the Export A F2000 series...sounds like Formula Tour 1600 has kept the ethos of those series alive

There was a young kid I raced against in 1991. He was just 16 years old at the time. You may remember him, his name was Greg Moore. RIP Greg.

Also raced against Chris Bye, Ian Willis, Jason McCann, Jason Carvalho, Greg Pootmans...the list goes on.
