OK, we are taking our first step away from SCCA and the GCR and by popular request [sorry Kris] banning carbon brakes from our series.
I can hear the anguished screams already but the overwhelming majority of entrants , even many of those currently using carbon discs and pads, have actually let their voices be heard and ask that we not allow them.
Virtually every runner with carbon currently can easily and quickly return to steel rotors and standard pads at no expense. While carbon is still legal per the GCR there is wide spread discontent with their use and as an expensive performance advantage they actually do nothing for the racing.
We thought we'd wait until Road Atlanta and the first Town Hall Meeting but have been convinced otherwise, hence this seemingly draconian step before we have run so much as a practice session.
With Atlanta Atlantic a mere 2.5 weeks away the tentative entry lists stands at 15 more or less, a good mix of chassis and motors, it should prove interesting to say the least.
