    Default CD and frontal area for a late model VanDiemen FC?

    Does anyone have an approximation of the Cd and frontal area for
    a modern Van Diemen FC car. I know the actual values will vary
    for different wings and wing angles, I am just looking for a ballpark value.
    Thanks

    Frontal area is about .83 m2 (8.9 ft2). It depends on the aero package, wing settings, ride height and rake, but CD will vary between about .52 and .63. These are all wind tunnel values with a stationary ground plane and non-rotating tires, albeit compensated somewhat.

    Nathan;

    Where would a non-winged car like a current F1600 come in.

    No idea! I would guess around 0.45, but I don't have any data. The lower bound of the CD number for an F2000 car I quoted above is a very low downforce configuration.

    I think I remember reading a Simon McBeath article in Racecar Engineering where they put a FF in the MIRA wind tunnel, but I can't put my hands on it right now. It was probably one of the later generation English cars, though.
