If you have gearing for other tracks, Fontana is like this: gear it like any track with a slow turn and a straight long enough to reach the aero limit of the car. Like Portland or RA. Maybe Willow. My experience was with S2's. The car is on the banking long enough to reach the highest speed it ever will. The turn onto the infield is pretty slow. If the wind is blowing, gear 5th a bit lower. It's a headwind.
send a PM if you want more detail, but Carl is correct.
I will assume you might have the ratios for Willow Springs
I have run the same gears as WSIR at Fontana when it is windy.
If the weather is good then you must be one or 2 tooths higher in top gear,
also, there are several infield turns which are long and tight,
1 or 2 tooths lower than WSIR is good, but not as low as Buttonwillow.
Never have been to CA Speedway but it sounds like the standard long track gearing will work. Since we are only allowed to use certain ratios gear selection is usually academic. The standard long track gear works at RA with it's 52mph turn up to the 140mph straights. That would be 17-19-21-23-25
Thanks all!!
