Default what the 2012 F1200 grid will look like...pics, rumors, etc.

Speaking on behalf of AVR Motorsports, we have one confirmed team car on the grid, with Andrew Waring returning in the #22 Protoform P2 to defend his Rookie of the Year title (try to figure that one out!)

Personally, myself and Sam Ashtiani are working on a little secret weapon...details to follow when things are final.

Kevin Deevey is also working on a secret weapon of his own. I will let him chime in with the details as he sees fit.

Do I count as a "rookie" if I haven't raced these cars in 10 years?

We'll (Rice Race Prep) be back with atleast 3 F1200s for Bamford, Legate, and Brigido. Certainly not a secret, but surely a weapon, we're still looking for a driver for the Landon Mysterian F1200. Its the sister car to the Bamford #7.

To my surprise and embrassessment, I won Rookie of the Year in '05, even though I had been racing FV (in it various formats) for over 10 years at that point.

Incidentally, Andrew Waring might want to look at his seating position over the winter. That photo shows his head is almost as high as the roll hoop!

    Guy,

I spotted that as well, and at 6'1"+, I don't come as close to the hoop as
the picture shows. Either Andrew is tall or they have a bead seat or something
under his can to raise him up?

It actually looks much worse than it is...he isn't sitting on anything, and his back is right against the gas tank. In this picture I'm pretty sure he has his head forward a bit as well.

I was initially concerned with this issue before he even got in the car, so that's the first thing I measured (rollbar to rollbar). He passed it quite easily...so call it a bad view..?

i scanned through the 1200 rules....there is a rule stating who can be eligible for RoY and i think if you've been out quite some time you do qualify for it.

that being said you may also qualify for Masters as well.

re: rollbar height, andrewW is a few inches taller than I, I also sit on the floor and tank, i have about 4 inches of clearance. i would suspect andrew is a little less but within the rules. our cars are dimensionally identical

personally if i was under 2 inches or less i wouldnt be comfortable with that.

with this many people returning and a couple of other "weapons" in the fold we could see a lot of winning cars/driver combos. thats great news.

Specific to our camp we will be retuning in 2012. Calabogie will be a big decider if we run the full slate or not.

Considering there is 6 monthes to the next race, lets hope they do the proper thing and alter the driving position or take the car to a good fabricator.

Hopefully we get everyone back & more for the 2012 season. To me, it seemed like the whole field became more competitive towards the last half of the season. There was consistently 5-7 cars running at the front in pack for the last 3 weekends or so. It was great to see with lead changes lap after lap.

It would be great to see more people enter in our series as a 25 car field would be great to run with. There are many cars available to rent for those wanting to check the series out & either start in open wheel racing or try it compared to another class. This is a great drivers series.

It's nice to see the Masters class growing. I hope there's more. I'm doing my best to join those ranks, I just clicked over a birtday milestone last week. I have a while to go yet.

FV hopeful. There are lots of people in the GTA that can help or provide information.

Make sure you attend the AGM for FTDA, it's in your neck of the woods and get acquainted or reacquainted with the community.

Any more new cars coming out this year? I'm excited for the new season, should be really competitive this year with the way last season was wrapping up.
