    Default Painting brake calipers

I was wondering what some of you all think about painting brake calipers ?
I’ve seen some cars with them done and it looks kind of cool, some I’ve seen are red some yellow and so on. is this tacky ,funky or just dumb . sorry I’m asking this but it’s late and my mind is wandering .

Paint will act as an insulator so you could increase fluid temps.

On the other hand, if you keep it to a real light coat and haven't had previous problems, you could probably get away with it.

Well, my LD19's were looking really bad, so I just put a coat of Hi-temp silver on. They still look pretty good, and no ill effects (on an RF78)

Wil it make the car go faster?

    Default VHT

VHT actually makes paint for this and you can get it at Autozone called caliper paint. Higher heat and resists brake fluid. I'm with you once the cad plating wears off the LD19's they don't look too good so sprucing them up with paint is a good idea in my book.

I have been painting calipers for years. I did the local Porsche proformance shop brake calibers. Never had an overheating problem, never had problem with the paint. I use a high end automotive paint.

Sure, you can paint them. Just don't ever get caught waxing and polishing them.

CastBlast and AlumiBlast works great; no problems with heat making paint fail, and they both hold up for ages, makes it easy to clean calipers, etc.

They make the car look better but not faster. Only the driver can do that, obviously. I want to echo the other comment that some paints can go on thick and not allow proper cooling and you get heat build up. Most races are 20 + minutes and heat build up may not be an issue. The SCCA Run Offs are 40 minutes and heat build up could present a problem. Just my humble opinion.

    Default Seymour spray bombed calipers

AlumiBlast resists heat up to 250 degrees F

    Might get toasted...
