    Default 09-12 Yamaha R1 Motor

After the '04 died, I'm looking for an upgrade. If we stick with Yamaha, we can retain many of the components developed over the past couple years. Would prefer a car kit with harness and airbox. Gauge cluster would be nice. ECU not necessary. Please IM on Apex or email tatuusf1k at mchsi dot com. Thanks.

    Ian,
I highly recommend the 07/08 engine. The one I tried had way more power than the 06, and the ECU can be re-flashed. Another advantage is that the bottom of the engine is the exact same as the 04-06 version. So most of your mountings and sump is the same. It's also a lot lighter by about 40 lbs than the 09-12 version.

Also, my 06 Yamaha R1 gauges worked with the 08. Just make sure you put in new conrod bolts!

    I see it as a no-brainer!
