    Default Looking for lost cars

We've been racing FST for a decade and it seems that a number of cars have fallen out of circulation.

Here is a few photos of some of the various cars that seem to have been swallowed up by garage monsters.

If you know any current status info on these, please do tell.

    Default Lost Cars

    Bill,

The red #3 is my old Caracal D when I raced it in FV. I believe it's still
in the Pittsburg, PA area and the current owner is trying to sell it.

Didn't Allan Adderley make the committee car into the Silver Bullet FST?

    Default Silver Bullet

Yes, the white number 11 Lynx with the ugly duckling body is now in Florida substantially upgraded to the latest FST specs and I believe has been out this year but equipped with the lithe Silver Bullet Body.

The #49 caracal is with DDC Racing in michigan,we focused on fv development this year but have not decided if we are going to run the first next year. The car is mostly together just missing a few parts that were taken off for one of the vees.

Actually, the Committee car had all the FST parts removed and bolted to a Caracal C chassis with a Silver Bullet body. Not sure if Allan sold the body/chassis parts or if they are in storage.

    Bill,

Has anyone ever converted a D-13 to a FST? With the large (ie: wide) body
and CF rims and tires, it would look like an old F-3 or F-2 car from the 60's!

    Sam,

I'll keep it in mind when the economy turns around. Right now, I can only
afford one car but it's always on my mind. When Dion Dunn and myself
we're converting the Citation to a FST, we always thought how cool it
would be to convert a D-13 etc... My only concerns would be the cooling,
both of my D-13's always ran a little hot with the 1200, and I figured a
1600 would only make it harder to cool.

    Thanks for the offer!

    Default D13

There is a D13 on here for sale for a $1000. With a working tranny and a 1600 s/p motor.

The car looks to be in decent shape from the photos I received.

I'm pretty sure you'll see a D-13 Formula First next season...

    Brian,

I'm tempted with the D-13 you mentioned, especially at that price.

    Mark:
I was thinking of it also but for the tranny and the s/p engine. The car is a steal at that price! But making it into a First would take some work. I have a first chassis already tacked together that needs a working tranny and an engine. I have another formula vee project that is taking all my time at the moment. Plus having a shop built.

An RCA formula vee would be the ultimate car for converting into a FST to make it look like an F2 or maybe even an F1 car from the '60s because of the cigar like shape to it, plus with the fat tires you could do any of the paint schemes from that era and it would be perfect

    I'm taking cover now...

    Mysterianfreak,

I agree with the RCA. Another vintage vee but probably too rare to convert
is the McNamera FV which has the open nose similiar to the watercooled cars
of the day. You can paint an opening on the nose of the D-13 to get that visual
effect also, and since their quite abundant, you don't have to worry about the
conversion. However, as I mentioned in a previous post, the cooling on a D-13
mated to a 1600 would present the biggest challenge.

    G,

What type of FST chassis do you have tacked together and what vee are you
    currently working on?

    Thanks!

    Mark:
I designed a Formula vee/Formula first chassis a few years ago and am in the process of building it. The Formula Vee project will be announced at a later time. I also have a chassis that was designed in the 70's by a friend that was never built untill now. I have all the steel cut, bent and welded together with the front end and tranny in place, waiting for the chance to show it to the designer (he doesn't know I built the thing).

I remember that Zink being one of the fastest FST's out there, converted really well.

    Default Dunlap WASP

Here is another project that has sort of vanished. Steve Dunlap was building two new FST cars called the WASP. In June of 2010, Steve posted here at Apex that health issues would keep him from continuing the project and was for sale.

    Find the post here:http://www.apexspeed.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40496

Have not heard if the cars/project were ever sold. I keep getting kick backs on his email address

Looked like a slick little car.

    Default Wasp

This was a very well thought out car, I liked that he kind of threw caution to the wind and didn't go with the conventional designs but held to his ideas. I especially liked the cooling scoops. That car would be an awesome investment to a would be car builder.

I prefered this style of RCA. Clean lines and this example is just a beautiful car.

We recently talked to Dunlap about the Wasp it is still around and for sale. I want to know what happened to the Jacer/Zurest we once had.

    Win,

Good news on the Jacer/Zuerst. It resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin owned by Gwizdek25 here at Apex. It will be back in the fold with Mike going through drivers school next spring.

    Default Committee Car

Just received a deposit from Jared Jaynes in Utah for the "Committee Car". I am selling this chassis as a slider with the original logbook, a Silver Bullet body, and a set of FST wheels & tires. He said he intends to restore it back to FST function early next year.

I'm keeping my Caracal "C" FST as a concept vehicle intended to develop Silver Bullet aero-package parts and accessories.
