Chet,
The area around Fitzgerald, Ocilla, and Willacoochee, GA has many trailer manufacturers. Some big companies like Pace and Hallmark, and numerous small companies. Some of the small companies change names, or go out of business often. These small companies usually are created from folks that got their training from the big companies and then branch out on their own, usually being competitively priced through lower overhead, ad costs, etc.
I bought my trailer from Cargo Star in Ocilla GA in 2002. It cost me about 55% of what the same sized Pace would have cost me from Fitzgerald 12 miles farther north. It's important to look over build quality, and that they have good standard axles from a OEM such as Dexter. I have had zero problems in almost ten years of use.
YMMV
Thanks for the info.
Does anyone have any word on the rumor that Pace trailers is going into involuntary bankruptcy - forced by its creditors (which usually means it will be resolved and assets sold off....)???
Pace was bought by an equity firm last year, and ceased operations. Mitchell Bender, original owner of Pace has started a new company, Bravo Trailers.
