Rumor has it that several of the front runners we're running with shortboxes? Can anyone verify this and is it possible to run with the SB at RA?
Thanks!
Mark

I can't verify it but I know it has been done in the past at RA at the Sprints. You definitely can run a SB there, I have done it, but in the draft you will need to be able to pull some serious RPM.

KEEP THE KINK!
SERIOUS RPM: 7000-7200 into Canada Corner if running with the front runners.
This is a questionable performance range with the new manifold rules.

Brian,
You probably would be due for a engine rebuild after those rpm's...even if the motor
did last the entire race.
Mark
Why? What would you anticipate needing service?

Mark,
The last time I heard of someone running a shortbox at Road America and being competitive was when C. Fred Clark won the June Sprints in 1980 (or there abouts) when a hot lap was in the 2:55 range. With a longbox and a draft, it is easy to be north of 6800 RPM. This was a few years ago when a quick time was around 2:44. Nuby cranks off a 2:41.4 yesterday...... I have doubts on a shortbox at RA
