    Default rFactor on a PS3

I know nothing about playstation so bear with me. I've got a victim, I mean a recruit, errrr, someone who wants to race rFactor. He says he can format a partition on his PS3. Will that allow him to run rFactor if he installs windoze and the game? I know he's serious because he bought a G25.

probably you can install windows on ps3 and then play the game.
G25 can be used on PC.

I think a PS3 will access the internet in a sort of Windows manner, but I'm not sure if you can actually run Windows programs.

rFactor will run on fairly basic computers ... just load it on a PC and forget about the PS3 business.

You CAN use the PS3 controllers and steering wheels with rfactor on a PC, by the way.

I don't have a PS3, but I believe it uses IBM's Cell processor, a variation of their RISC-based PowerPC CPU. This is not an Intel-compatible CPU. So, no, it won't run Windows.

There is a version of Linux available for the PS3 though (Ubuntu). I don't know anything about rFactor, but I'm going to guess there isn't a Linux/PowerPC version available, in which case, that doesn't help you either.

If rFactor only runs on Windows, then a PC with an x84 CPU (Intel, AMD, or Via) is your only option.

Your friend's PS3 will not run Windows. It's not a PC. He cannot run rFactor on his PS3, period.

To run rFactor, he needs a PC. There are other good racing games for the PS3 but rFactor is not among them.

You can run it on a Mac using Boot Camp, too. I did it for years. A MacBook Pro laptop, even.

No reason to run it on a PS3, though. You can really set it up on most computers.

As an example of that, I run it on my "state of the art 8 or 9 years ago" machine. You can get something with double the resources for a few hundred bucks now a days

P.S. An upgrade is coming soon I hope. Planned in conjunction with the release of rF2 if it ever gets released. Hopefully it's not as much of a disappointment as GT5 was after all the wait.

You don't even need Boot Camp and Windows to run it on a Mac - I'm running it directly on OS X through CrossOver, just like a regular Mac program. Works fine.

    Default Cost?

I would imagine that a Mac + BootCamp + Windows would cost a whole lot more than a PC. Heck, even a PS3 costs more than a PC. What problem are we trying to solve here?

rFactor definitely will not run on a PS3, no matter how much you hack it. PC only (and some Macs).
