    Default June Sprints schedule

FA, FC, FM in one race group? That could be 60+ cars. What happend to the theory of placing classes together that had distinctive speed differences? Did we get stuffed together to make way for SCCA's latest pet showcase MX-5 Cup baloney? Why is the club's biggest non-Runoffs race compromised for a pro (snicker) series? I'll never get it.

Default The test Day's not lookin' so flashy, either!

FA/FB/FC/FM - seriously?, and we get charged $325 for this honor?

I can only hope that they will change this as it seems like a 4 way losing proposition for all 4 classes involved.

Ya think someone from the Goobermint mighta recently went to work for Rd Am?!!!

I'm pretty sure no one at RA had anything to do with it. They just rent out the track to the SCCA!

    Default Uh-huh

Yeah Matt, to my knowledge, every test day I have ever taken part in is put on by the track.
I realise the thread is about run groups for the race, but I was adding to the disappointment by mentioning the test day groupings being unfavorable also...

Even if RA made a bone-headed decision on test day groupings on its own, I'm sure they would work with the SCCA to correct it if that was what the club requested.

But when you look at the groupings, they basically have winged and non-winged open wheel groups. That's not unusual for a test day. It's highly unlikely they would add a third open wheel group, so what would you suggest?

At least they didn't make it wings and things and put the sports racers in there too!!

    Default Actually...

What I'd suggest is what we have run in the past. Last year comes to mind...

That group is much better than FE having to run with FV,FF, and F5.

There is one benefit to this grouping you are all missing! I am amazed someone didn't mention it already Blue Flagging! The majority of the wing classes in a group, with several classes could be a lot of fun from the blue flagging perspective. Making sure you are right on top of your blues and keeping the top cars in each group is a real test!

I love Blue Flagging, it is so much fun, and plus when your good at it and that you know the drivers can see an react to it, it is a wonderful feeling.

Ok on a serious note, I remember these car groupings being put together before but these were at nationals. Does anyone even know what the car count is looking like? I am sure if enough people brought it up there might be some room to move things about.

What would be done if enough people asked for the MX-5 Cup to take a hike? This sounds like something that should be post-feature race flotsam on the ALMS weekend. I've never heard of a pro (guffaw) series taking up space at the June Sprints. Maybe they're here to help sell tickets!

Chances are the MX5 is getting a discounted rate and the region's trying to breakeven. With the car counts falling, every region is having to get creative with the schedule. At least the entry fee is reasonable. I paid $420 for a double regional at Laguna with a practice, one qualy and two races over 2 days. We were combined with FC FF and Club F. At least we didn't run with the SRF's.

There are other changes to meet Mazda's needs also during the weekend. They are just not very noticeable.
