The 2010 F1000 Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering is proud to welcome G. JEZARIAN-Purveyor of Fine Jewelry as a sponsor of the newly created PassMaster Award. The driver that advances the most positions during the race over the course of several specific events will win a set of custom-designed, hand-made rose plated F1000 cuff links.
The races used to determine the G. JEZARIAN PassMaster Award coincide with the races used in the Super Sweep Award:

    • Jan. 24, Auto Club Speedway, SoPacDiv National
    • March 6, Texas World Speedway, race one of SWDiv Double National
    • March 20, Thunderhill, race one of NorPacDiv Double National
    • March 21, Road Atlanta, SEDiv National
    • May 2, Heartland Park Topeka, MWDiv National
    • May 23, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, GLDiv National
    • June 27, Road America, CenDiv National
    • July 3, High Plains Raceway, race one of RMDiv Double National
    • July 11, Watkins Glen International, NEDiv National
    • September 24, Road America, Runoffs

The award will be a year-end prize based on a driver's cumulative passes over the course of the season, plus the Runoffs. Points will be maintained and available at www.formula1000.com.

Jezarian’s interest in the F1000 series piqued as more and more drivers began their own F1000 campaigns. He adds, "The F1000 entrants are truly the last of a breed. These days it takes a lot of moxie to be an early adopter of a new formula. Whether racing a factory chassis or creating their own conversions, the Formula 1000 drivers show a lot of faith and courage by investing their resources in something new. Being the only first generation jeweler among my colleagues, I have respect for people who willingly take risks for something they believe in. They are, in essence, building their brand from the ground up and my company is proud to show our support during these starting stages. The F1000 Championship is sure to be one of the fastest classes in American road racing."

Greg's timing couldn't be better. With two of the Super Sweep races coming up this weekend and large fields attending both, there will be plenty of opportunity for registered drivers to begin scoring points toward the G. JEZARIAN PassMaster Award.

As with all the cash and prizes in The 2010 F1000 Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering, you can't win if you aren't registered for the series. Time is running out so head over to www.formula1000.com to download an entry form and send it in right away. You can also use the attached form. Don't delay!

The 2010 F1000 Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering is proud to welcome our newest Associate Sponsor: Philadelphia Motorsports. Philly Motorsports is the builder of the DB-X F1000, one of the newest offerings for the Formula 1000 class. Designed in conjunction with Barani Design, the DB-X was conceived to make maintaining the car easy without compromising performance. According to Philly owner Sal Donato, the car uses a single upright design, a single bell crank design, a single shock, and symmetrical suspension components, all with the goal of keeping maintenance costs and spares inventory to a minimum. As a former mechanic himself, Donato empathizes with the guys that work on race cars and set out to build a car that he himself would like to work on, scratching two complete chassis before settling on the car that is currently being produced. The feature that Donato is most proud of is the fact that the cars are 100% built in the United States with top-notch materials and components. The final prototype was shaken down at Summit Point in November and production began shortly after.

So far, three cars have been sold, with two more sales pending. Although the new owners are not well-known in open-wheel circles, Donato is confident that they'll be at the front of the pack this season. He said, "Sure, I could put a top hotshoe in my car and win races, but how would people know that it's the car and not the driver?"

Philly Motorsports plans for 2010 are ambitious. The car will continue to be developed with the help of test driver and Formula Ford driver Eric Langbein. The car owners will participate in regional and national races in the Northeast, and the team will attempt to make the long tow West to participate in the West Coast F1000 Pro Series.

For more information on the DB-X F1000 car, visit the Philly Motorsports website: Philly Motorsports and be sure to thank them for their support of the F1000 Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering!

The last day to register for the 2010 F1000 Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering and have your points retroactive to the beginning of the season is June 30.
If you register after June 30, only points scored in the previous 14 days will count. This means that if you scored points in January and register before June 30, all your points will count toward the Championship. However, if you register on July 1 only points scored from June 16 forward will count.
In other words, register before June 30!

Remember: just because you aren't in the chase for 1st place, doesn't mean you won't be eligible for cash or prizes!

Just a reminder: TODAY is the last day to register for the F1000 National Championship and still have your points retroactive to the beginning of the season.
If your name is on this list:
    National Points
You've scored national points. HOWEVER, if your name is not highlighted in yellow, you're NOT REGISTERED.

Remember: only your top 6 finishes count toward the championship so it's anyone's game!

    Championship Update

    • Current points for the 2010 F1000 National Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering are updated and found here. Remember, the championship is based on your best 6 finishes plus the Runoffs. Taking that into account, Brandon Dixon would still hold a large lead but the race for rest of the paying positions gets a lot tighter. On top of that, the Runoffs offers DOUBLE POINTS, which could put even more drivers in contention for the Championship, should they choose to attend. This championship won't be decided until the last lap of the Runoffs!

    • Leg 1 of the RillTech Racing/Speads Super Sweep Prize is now complete and the following drivers have qualified:

    Glenn Cooper
    David Burkett
    Niki Coello
    Bill McLaughlin Jr.
    Chris Waterman
To complete Leg 2, a driver must win his division points championship. Cooper is currently 2nd in SE Division, Burkett is leading in SoW Division, Coello leads McLaughlin in Central Division, and Chris Waterman is currently 2nd in Rocky Mountain Division.
    • Regular-season scoring for the G. Jezarian PassMaster Award is also complete and the points can be found here. Bill McLaughlin Jr. has a big lead going into the Runoffs where big points will be available to registered drivers. With a large field expected for the Championship race, the G. Jezarian PassMaster Award will also be decided on the last lap!

    Class Update-Important!
After this past weekends events, Formula 1000 participation sits at 2.73 entries per national race. To maintain national status and retain a place at the Runoffs, the class needs to stay at or above 2.5 entries per national race. There are 11 national races left in 2010 to help determine our national status and that means that to stay above 2.5 entries, there needs to be at least 15 entries over those 11 races.
This is critical: please take a look at the remaining races below. If you can fit one or more of them into your schedule and/or budget, you'll be doing your part in ensuring that we can continue to race F1000 in national races next year. If we don't make it, it will be regional-only races!

    Next Up

    • Cumberland Classic National @ BeaveRun Motorsports Complex - August 1
    • St. Louis August National @ Gateway International Raceway - August 1
    • Houston Fun in the Sun Double National @ MSR Houston - August 7/8
    • Tri Region August National @ Pocono Raceway - August 15
    • Utah Double National @ Miller Motorsports Park - August 14/15
    • August National @ Mid-America Motorplex - August 15
    • Chicago August National @ Blackhawk Farms - August 29
    • Last Chance Double National @ High Plains Raceway - September 4/5

    Default F1000 prize money announced

Press release that went out earlier today:

    F1000 PRIZE MONEY ANNOUNCED

Over $5,000 up for grabs in Formula 1000 at National Championship Runoffs

ELKHART LAKE, WIS. (September 14, 2010) – Now that the regular season of the 2010 F1000 National Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engines has wrapped up, drivers are preparing for the Runoffs, the Sports Car Club of America’s National Championship at Road America, and looking forward to the spoils of their hard work. Thanks to title sponsors George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering, and associate sponsors Philly Motorsports, Slick Eyewear, and Gyrodynamics, the jackpot in cash and prizes sits at just over $5,000.

For drivers that registered for the season-long points championship, the top prize is $1,000. As a testament to the growth and competitiveness of F1000, there are four drivers going into the Championship race with a mathematical chance of taking home the first place money.
Second place will be worth $800, third place is worth $600, and cash will be paid out all the way back to 10th place.
The winner of the Runoffs race on September 25 will receive $500, regardless of his series registration or standings in the season points.

In addition to the series title and race win, competitors will have the opportunity to win the RillTech Racing/Speads Super Sweep Award, which will be awarded to a driver that wins his SCCA Divisional title, one of nine key National events, a Runoffs class win and a class win in the newly-formulated SCCA nationwide point structure. Should a driver accomplish all of those feats, he’ll take home $1,000 cash, courtesy of RillTech Racing/Speads.

Finally, one driver will win the inaugural G. JEZARIAN PassMaster Award. The driver that advances the most positions during the race over the course of several specific events will win a set of custom-designed, hand-made rose plated F1000 cuff links, courtesy of G. JEZARIAN-Purveyor of Fine Jewelry. Nine drivers have scored points throughout the season and even more points are available at the Runoffs so the G. JEZARIAN PassMaster Award could go to anyone.

With a tight points battle, super-close competition on the track, and a field full of national champions, expect the F1000 National Championship to come down to the wire. There’s over $5,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs but we won’t know who gets it until the checkered flag falls.

The points for the 2010 F1000 National Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering have been updated on the F1000 website: www.formula1000.com

The points reflect completion of the regular season and elimination of all but each driver's best six finishes.
Brandon Dixon still holds a commanding lead over Glenn Cooper, Niki Coello, and David Burkett. However, with double GCR points available at the Runoffs, plus bonus points, each of those drivers have a mathematical chance of winning the Championship.
After the grid is set on Thursday, the Championship picture could become a bit clearer but the winner of the $1,000 prize won't be known until the checkered flag on Saturday!

Congratulations to the drivers and teams, and a big thank you to you, Mike, for doing so much to help F1000. It's a great formula and would do fine without your extra effort, but there's no doubt your passion has done a LOT to boost its visibility and prestige. When I'm on the phone with Taylor Race Engineering and other series sponsors, I'll be sure to thank them and let them know their sponsorship is resulting in more loyalty and business.

    Default Congrats

Congrats to all the drivers listed above....this is an expensive hobby that takes tons of effort and dedication. Those that have had the chance to get behind the wheel of an F1000 car know how much fun they are to drive. I expect next season to bring even more new entries into the series.

Special thanks also go out to Mike Beauchamp. I've had the chance to work with Mike on both sending him race updates from the West Coast but also on a professional one. He's the real deal, a stand up guy.

I'll go out of my way and everyone else should to use the sponsors of this series services whenever possible.

Now that the national racing is over, an inaugural F1000 Runoffs Champ has been crowned, and all the prize money has been distributed, it's time to look forward to the 2011 Championship. The best way to do that is to look critically at 2010.

This is where I need your help.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey found here:
    http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3DPHGXS

If you only answer 2 questions, please answer #9 and #10. The goal is to learn from our mistakes, build on what was good about 2010, and make 2011 the best season so far.

    • This survey is anonymous so feel free to be brutally honest!. For the same reason, if you ask a question in one of your responses, I can't answer it.
    • Remember: the F1000 National Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering is not a single event. It's a season-long points chase held at every national race throughout the country.
    • This survey deals primarily with the F1000 National Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering as a series, not Formula 1000 as a class. The goal is to make the Championship series better. Improving the class is not within the scope of this survey (although a worthy endeavor on its own. )

Thanks in advance for your input!

I've gotten some really good input and ideas so far but would like to get more opinions. The survey permits up to 100 responses and we're almost half way. I know there are at least 100 people that have an interest in F1000 so don't be shy. Remember, it's anonymous so be brutally honest.

If you've already taken the survey, thank you! I'll summarize the results after another week of collection.

About Us
Since 2000, ApexSpeed.com has been the go-to place for amateur road racing enthusiasts, bringing together a friendly community of racers, fans, and industry professionals. We're all about creating a space where people can connect, share knowledge, and exchange parts and vehicles, with a focus on specific race cars, classes, series, and events. Our community includes all major purpose-built road racing classes, like the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and various pro series across North America and beyond. At ApexSpeed, we're passionate about amateur motorsports and are dedicated to helping our community have fun and grow while creating lasting memories on and off the track.
