I'm in the purchasing tools phase for the trailer/car and also the design and layout of the interior of the trailer.

I'm planning on going with a 26ft trailer around 8-10ft living area, pending on car length.

I was wondering how much are car lifts generally? Who makes them?

How do trailers tow with the car in the air?

Axe Equipment and Motorsports in Council Grove, Kansas makes a beautiful lift called a Stinger. Danny Axe has been building race chassis and shop equipment for years. You may have to do a search for his website or call him at 800-251-0018.

Have you purchased your trailer already? We went with a full 30 foot all-aluminum made by The Aluminim Trailer Company in Nappanee, Indiana. The nose is wedge-shaped for less wind resistance. That area also holds the generator and air compresser. We opted for the combination heater and A/C along with a roof platform for viewing. Best of all it only weighs 3700 pounds empty-weight. Not bad for a triple-axle! Lot of different ways to build it too.

However, we didn't need the lift but we do have one in the semi-tractor trailer.

I have a 20' trailer in which the racecar rides 40" above the floor with it's COG centered over the trailer axles. The car rides on two work benches that run down the sides of the trailer. I designed it that way so that a 20' trailer will hold almost the same load as a 34' trailer. The four wheeler or golf cart rides under the racecar, also centered over the axles. This combination leaves us at least 6' of standup space in the front and we have over 16' of built in cabinets along the sides. I can load it alone with a small winch. Behind the cabinets is storage for ramps, scale pads, and tent poles for a 20 x 20 canopy.

At the track, once unloaded we end up with a very useful trailer with 16 feet of counter tops.

We have experienced no problem towing, even with the bottom bay empty.

Thanks Purple,

I wish my concern was that I was going to put in two cars, but it was mainly more for storage space such as your setup.

Do you have any photos? Also how do you get your car so high in the air? Sounds like you do it without a lift maybe.

I have my kart trailer setup similar however I can lift the kart by hand, lol.

The inclined plane. Made it easy to build pyramids back in my youth.

Ramps. Lightweight. Altogether about 14 feet long. They slide in behind the cabinets. You must always remember that these cars are fairly light... well maybe not when compared to karts... but without driver, any one corner isn't over 400 pounds. So don't over design.

12v winch up front pulling on a 1/4 inch cable.

I have pictures, but they are 45 miles away and not digitized. Maybe tomorrow.

Frog,
What size hitch do you use for your 20" Trailer? I have seen it. Thought it was bigger than that. How do you fit 34' of stuff in 20"? Sorry, couldn't resist.

Michael,
You guys were talking about FC trailers??? Oh... I thought we were talking about the R/C stuff.

You actually read what I write... I'm impressed. Now I will have to take typing lessons.

Are you in for the ARRC? or are you doing the fly over during the national anthem?

I am planning on being there but we will have to wait and see. I really would like somewhere to test after all this work I have done to the car. The neighbors are about to put together a lynch mob. The only thing real about the movie "Driven" is the fact that race cars really do drive on public roads. I have yet to suck up a sewer plate, but with the changes I am making on the car I may very well. If the car is not ready I will be the Falconjet followed by the two armed F-16's escorting me to the nearest airport for a brewskey. See you guys later.
