    Matt,

Not sure of your schedule, but the only road course track around Detroit is Waterford. Unfortunately, they have very limited practice times due to local ordinances. I just finished testing last weekend at Gingerman (by Benton Harbor in South Haven). It is similar in size to Waterford, but has alot of runoff room in case something goes wrong. I believe they have open practice sessions every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 5:30 to dark. It's a bit of a haul (about 3 hours), but to my knowledge, it is the only track nearby that offers open practice.

Let me know if you find out otherwise.

    Matt-

2 hours west is both Gingerman Raceway (2.0 mile) and Grattan Raceway.

I believe you can get a group of guys together for each to have a practice day, or find their web addresses and look for their open practices..

For open practices, both charge around $100 per car, private anywhere from $1200-2000 per day. We recently rented Grattan and have 18 of us pitch in $100 to run a 250 SuperKart practice day.

    Good luck!

Gingerman charged $50 for 3 sessions on Saturday (I got there late), and $100 for Sunday (it is normally $125, but they gave me a break since we were there on Saturday). Go to www.gingerman-raceway.com and you can call the track. I think they only charge $50 for a weekday.

If you can get enough people together, renting the track out is the only way to go. Hopefully you know everyone so there are no idiots trying to set lap records in practice (expecially since there are no corner workers or safety crew). If you practice anywhere before a national race, it will cost you $150 - $200 for a day, and you won't get half the practice time, and you will have three times the cars on track at one time.
