    Default Citation Honda conversion

Here are some pictures of my Citation Honda Conversion. We are almost finished. Still have to finish and attach an airbox and scoop and some other smaller details.

The conversion was complicated by deciding to switch from a clapped out Staffs to an LD 200. The Staffs was going to cost a lot more than I had to fix. Citation made both the engine and the transmission bellhousing adapters.

Great job Steve... Now can I get one too? Just kidding. Good luck with the car. I got a feeling it will be a very enjoyable car and a potent competitor.

I always felt one of the benifits of the Honda Powerplant being allowed was that new cars would start getting built again. Hopefully, this is the first of many.

Looks good. Did the switch fro the Staffs to the LD200 have any real effect on the conversion from Kent to Honda engines or just added work to your project?

Are the plated tube fabrications stock Citation and the un-plated parts that can be seen the new parts?

Also, are you doing this for Honda as their pre-production test, or are the parts fom a Honda kit, or is it done by you for yourself?

    Just curious.

The gearbox switch required a number of new pieces and bits to be made or altered.

    1. All new suspension attachment brackets for the gearbox
    2. New, longer half shafts
    3. Lengthened the radius rods about 1"
    4. Modified rear upper A arms.
    5. New Bellhousing adapter to mount LD to my bellhousing. (not necessary if one choses to use the new style bellhousing as is on the new Citations.
    6. Longer rear push rods because the LD is taller and the existing bellcranks are now higher in the car.

One hopefull benefit is my rear motion ratios should now match the new cars.

The plated parts are indeed the same engine bay braces as I used with the Kent. The lower braces are new and we moved the top crosstube in front of the intake plenum to allow room for some sort of airbox.

All the engineering for this was done by Steve Lathrop @ Citation Engineering. He also made all the adapters and suspension brackets and modified the A arms.

Jim McCracken @ Quicksilver Racengines did all the welding and fabricating.

Jeremy Grenier @ Ski Motorsports is doing all the glasswork.

Perhaps I could offer Schwietz a straight up trade....on second thought this will be cheaper to run.

    What a beautiful job.

What is the aluminuim tank looking piece hanging off the rear of the gearbox that shows up first in about pic #6?

The old girl looks pretty good.

Steve D, that is an overflow tank we fabricated unless Oseth is converting it to a nitrous bottle.

Your request to trade has been denied. Unless you want to trade your car for Schwietz, in which case I'd be glad to be rid of him.

Sorry Josh. It costs more to feed Schwietz than the car.

The car is also lighter and produces fewer emissions. And you can reason with a car.

You know as well as I do that Citations use the frame to hold the nitrous. No one ever looks for a fill port behind the dash and the plumbing can mix in with the wiring until it gets to the engine.

We have found that in Schwietz's case, the driver's head has a higher capacity, so that is where the NOS is stored.

I don't know.........from what I read on this site you're gonna need the NOS with the Honda. Car looks great Steve, can't wait to have another Honda to race with.
