I've spent quite a bit of time on forums that are predominantely UK punks. They don't like Peter much... most have no idea who he is or what his history is. They're only aware that he was a jornalist for speed. One guy put it well... basically saying that it's a national tradition to kick someone when they're down - it's the english way.

It may be an English tradition, not sure about that. I wonder if some of it isn't bitterness that he "defected" to a US broadcaster. Kinda like "Does he think he's too good for the BBC?" Hard to say. I do know I always enjoyed his perspective. He's a knowledgeable guy and seemed to have a good rapport with most folks in pit lane. Hopefully his permanent replacement can do that well. We'll see.

Doesn't that feed come form FIA?

Speed TV was umprepared as they expected that to be there also. Watching a sporting event without a scoreboard is just plain stupid.

Peter Didn't jump ship, he would of jumped at the opportunity to work for the BBC. The offer never came.. He's an Aussie born in Britain, I know of many a Yank with a Brit accent because they grew up there.

I liked Peter Windsor(still do probably despite evident faults) before he became delusional and pretended not to know how incompetent his Partner was. He prolonged the agony and embarrasment of facing up to the facts because of his PR backgound, and became obscessed with Damage Contol Mode. He knew it was coming!

    Cheers,
    Wayne

+1. I hope this is not the final comment on or memory of Peter. I hope he can come back and provide some insight/commentary in some way in the future.

Default Being from the U.S. .........

now, I'm more pissed off than embarrassed. Anderson and Windsor had a right to try what they did, but now....................... the U.S. continuing to be the laughingstock of the F-1 world complicates things tremendously for me.

    http://www.crash.net/f1/news/157766/...d_in_2011.html

Windsor should have put the lid on this once and for all and has lost my respect completely.

<Deep breath> Oh, WTF, what's one more clown in the circus??? Guess I lost my perspective for a moment.

Williams Team PR/Sponsorship Manager: Manager of Ferrari Guildford Technical Center: Williams Team Manager. I.e. a reasonable CV for what he attempted.

Those were positions . . . . . the reputations may be varied.

It would be a shame for all of that shop space in North Carolina to go to waste. Perhaps Peter could turn his sites to stock cars and rename the team British Nascar.

Default due to a lack of caffeine..

I posted the wrong link from crash.net. Still kinda fits though as it illustrates how much turmoil there is in F1

At any rate this is the link I meant to post....

Default must have been some weirdness with my browser..

The link had the right words showing in this message box but obviously it wasn't sending it to the right one.

In case that happens again, the one I was trying to link to on crash.net was the one titled: Lopez admits he put too much trust in USF1 claims.

    http://www.crash.net/f1/news/157817/...f1_claims.html

Let's hope this works properly this time.

See my post re improve F1.

That would make his 8 large seem much bigger and just probably pay for an entire season.

How about going back to the mid 70's when the cars could be sold to "privateeers" and you could bring anything that met the rules.

And a competitive package (DFV, Hewland and your own chassis) could be had for less than 1 large.

And there were full grids and even qualifying to see who got to qualify.

Bring the cost down and more will participate.

It was not about the technology it was about the racing and the racing was waayyyy better because of it.

    Define "exist."

The first chassis is in build right now, and many of the components for the first five cars "exist" and the remainder are close. We don't have a completed car yet, though, and don't expect to make VIR. No reason to pull a HRT/Campos and try to assemble the first cars in the paddock!

I'll try to post some photos soon.

    Default USF1 Update

    Issued today:

PaddockTalk.com has exclusive information that tomorrow April 2nd, 2010, the President will announce a $100 million bailout - named 'Technology We Can Believe In' - of the Charlotte-based USF1 Formula One operation and immediately save 60 jobs - including those of Team principals Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor.

Anderson and Windsor had proudly promoted the opportunities for American drivers and engineers in Formula One after winning an entry for the 2010 season. Misfortune struck them hard when a sponsor was unable to meet their obligations and the team was unable to finish their revolutionary racing car.

One high-ranking White House official revealed, "We are committed to the goal of a re-tooled, re-imagined auto racing industry that can compete and win."

not to be too political, but I am surprised somewhat that this has not actually happened yet.
