    Default RT41 0il pick-up

Can any of you RT40/41 guys educate me on the oil pick-up location in the tank. Is it baffeled ? Curious if it is possible to suck some air in a long hi-g turn.

Normal capacity for me is 8.5 to 9 qts with a little in the catch tank after each session. I would appreciate any feedback you can provide.

    Regards,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
I work on a Rt-40. The oil pick up is just in front of the bottom cover of the oil tank. The pick up is a tube that come in for the right side of the tank. The tube has an oval cut out at it bottom that is covered by a screen. There are no baffles in the tank on our car. I use the same amount of oil you do, and have not had problems with sucking air even at ca speedway were we use nascar turns 1 & 2 on the banking and we are going left though the turns.

    Default Oil pickup

    Tommy's description is right.

We've never had problems in turns. We do see a 30-40# pressure drop on the uphill at Lime Rock. That's the worst of all worlds for this car - high-G right hander, pushing the oil all to the left wall of the tank, immediately followed by an airborne jump over the top of the hill.
