    Default Top of the list

Hey, i am at the top of the list for the FF Regional and National. Better enjoy while I can as I am sure the result sheets will have a different order.

How does a Zink A-10 get into the Vintage group? Pre 1972?

Roland, that's my error. Both JD King's and Mike Allison's Zinks should be listed in the Vintage-70 group. I corrected it above.

Ed, you're on top at least until another Bowman BC-5 enters. Oh wait, there are no other BC-5 FFs.

    Default Royale

I am really surprised that the vintage Royales are missing this one. There are so many RP3's and RP16's in the US that I was expecting someone would bring one to this bash. Especailly the RP3. What a classic looking formula car shape from the early days.

Thanks Tom, we are bringing a Lotus 51. It just hasn't been entered yet.

Similarly, I'm surprised for all the hundreds of DB1s built in the 80s there will be more DB6s there than DB1s (as the entries stand today). There were only 72 DB6 frames built, and even fewer chassis plates (replaced frames from the pro oval series a few times) so to see 17 in FF trim is a pretty big deal.

I was really hoping that more of the Vintage guys would enter. First, for selfish reasons: I really like looking at the older cars in the paddock and on the track. Second: this is a reunion and a celebration of the first FF races 40 years ago, so the more cars from that era, the better.

Anyone know what Ken Rodrigues' "Purple Haze" is? Someone mentioned to me that he might drive a Swift and the purple haze is the color of the car, but didnt know for sure. However, Ken's DLB entry lists his car with a year of "2000" so that wouldnt be a Swift.

Anyone know Ken or his car?

And only 1 Citation and 1 Reynard, I see more when I goto Solo Nationals of both makes! Guess they're falling into the same trap as the DB1's mentioned by Tim and other mid-80's/early 90's cars w/ too many sitting in garages collecting dust as they have nowhere competitive to run w/ full outboard suspensions.

What I find most interesting is the shear number of cars NOT on the list.

For example, in St. Louis alone I know of the following cars that won't be making the trip (not that I have not tried...)
    Van Dieman RF84 1
    Lola T640 2
    Caldwell D9 2 (1 running the KIC)
AAR Eagle 1 (a Bahner car)
    Merlyn Mk17 1
Lotus 51 1 (running the KIC)
If I know of these, how many do each of you know of? The numbers boggle the mind!

Their loss. Well our loss too!
