    Default Rev limiter

    Guys,

I'm using a Motec ECU on my Cosworth conversion to EFI. There are multiple ways to manage the rev limit.

Can any of you share how Pectel manages the set limit for your Toyota 4AGE's ? I'm searching for the softest limit possible that still controls rpm without excessive oscillation, or vibration....fuel, timing, random spark, or any combination?

    Thanks in advance,
    Bill

I still have the old Pro-spec Pectel in the Ralt. It uses a radical fuel chop at the selected RPM as the rev limiter. The sensation is likened to the pop-off valve on a mid-90s Indy car...you DON'T want to go there!

    Stan,

Are you still running carbs on the Ralt, or did you go back to fuel injection?

    Bill,

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I am using an Electromotive XDI direct fire ignition system on my carbed Toyota. It has a progressive ("soft") rev limiter.

We run carbs and use the Pectel for spark control, which is open-ended (no spark-based rev controls on the pro-FA Pectel).

    Default Pro Pectel rev limiter

    Stan,

There is a rev-limiter in that ECU that you can use with carbs. I have the instructions around here somewhere.

Do you have the editting program for the maps?

Thanks Paul, I'd love to see what you have. OTOH, the only cable I have is to download the data...no dongle for map functions. Stan

    Default Rev Limiter

My copy is a fax of a fax.

But unless you have the ECU map edit program and cable, you're not going to be able to do anything with it.

    Who's your engine builder?
