    Default FF40th 3-Digit Numbers

There has been some confusion around 3-digit numbers at the FF40th. I have caused much of it so it falls on me to clean up the mess. Here goes...

The objective is unchanged: to minimize, if not eliminate, number changes for cars crossing over into multiple race groups. Cars in the restricted regional may be required to run a 3-digit number. A 3-digit number will be assigned to a car entered only in the restricted regional when that car's number is needed by a multiple race group car to avoid a number change.

How will this work? Here's a scenario. You enter the restricted regional only and select "50" from the DLB web site. Entries continue to pour in. Later, someone wants to enter both the national and the restricted regional. There are no numbers open in both race groups. Number "50" is available for the national but you already have it for the restricted regional. The registrar would then contact you with your new number for the restricted regional: "150". The other driver would have "50" in both the restricted regional and the national.

What to do? Select your number(s) from the DLB drop down menu. Mike Rand and I will monitor the DLB entry list for cars requiring number changes. We'll contact drivers that must change numbers and will help them find an alternative number, if desired. If any 3-digit numbers are required, official notification will come from Kay Imig, the event registrar.

Is this explanation overly complex? Probably. But 3-digit numbers will only be required if we are starting 50+ cars in each race group with lots of crossovers. In that case, the great racing will make the 3-digit numbers worth the hassle.

Problems with DLB registration will be the subject of a separate post...

    Default News from Kay Imig

I got an e-mail from Kay Imig, the Milwaukee Region registrar, over the weekend. Problems with the DLB web site continue...and there is no end in sight.

That being the case, Kay advises to enter the best you can and take any number(s) the on-line system will give you. If you are not happy with your number(s), e-mail Kay and she will work with you to assign you something more suitable. This applies to those with CENDIV permanenet numbers as well as to our many out-of-division guests.

Enter early and enter often...let's beat my 187 entry over/under.
