    Default Real 014

I think the only real update is a new tub and various other pieces. Look at Greg Sorrentino's post he has everything you need to have a real 014.

It depends upon what you mean by "upgrade". The 014a tub and trunions are different than the 008, giving significantly more torsional stiffness, so a complete "upgrade" would require a 014a tub. On the other hand, it is my understanding that many of the 014 components can be utilized with the 008 tub. Not sure what type of performance advantage this offers over the stock 008 package, but there are others on this forum who are very knowlegeable regarding this subject.

    Default 008 /014 Upgrades

Rick is correct. If you want to truly replicate an 014, then you you would want to have the more torsionally stiff tub and trunnion set up out of the box. That doesnt mean that the 008 cannot be be made stiffer, there are many things you can do if you so choose. They just were not legal to do when they were running in the pro series ! We have an 008/014 hybrid and for me one of the equally important updates is the gearbox. The SG3 is simply a significantly better item. It does not have the fragility of the 008 box.Its HP and Torque rating is way better. We also run a bigger 2.2 liter motor (in FS) and it was 100% reliable last year.If anyone is intersted, feel free to contact me directly, Im happy to share the poject details

Graham's FS pulls like crazy. The installation is one of the cleanest you will find. It looks like it came from Swift with the 2.2. Hope I get to run with you guys again in June at Mazda Raceway.

    Default 008 / 014

    Rick,
We run a Vauxhall/Opel C20XE Motor that ran in BTCC / DTCC Basically an evolution of the 2.0 Litre road going engine, bored and stroked.Cosworth designed head. Was also used in lesser form in F3.A little heavier of course but power output heading north of 285 BHP.Definetely shoehorned into the Swift but the wheelbase and geometry remain original.

Very nice looking installation, Graham. Hope that I can see it in person one of these days.

You also make a great point about the advantages of the 014 gearbox. Can that be bolted directly onto a 008, or are modifications required?

    Default 008 /014 Gearboxs

    Rick,
As far as I know the oil tank/bellhousing is common to both cars Part Number 0832-1001 is listed in both parts manuals so the gearbox should not be a problem. If your ever out west, your more than welcome to stop by.!
