    Default Fiesta head legal?

I think I know the answer to this question, but I will ask it anyway.

Is the head from a Fiesta legal in FF? The rules indicate that the Pierce aluminum head is and that the Pinto 'chambered' head is (for the non-uprated), but no mention of the Fiesta head. I assume that if it isn't specified, it can't be used.... If it makes any difference, it will be used on a vintage FF, not a conference or national car.

Besides the smaller valves and ports, are there any differences between the heads used on uprated FF engines and the Fiesta? I will of course have it built up by a pro builder, which will correct the valves and ports sizes. I would like to pick up a spare core and I have access to one locally if it will work.

    Thanks in advance.

The fiesta head is legal. It would be a core head that a cylinder head specialist would port to be a race head. I imagine the cost of having the modifications done would be 3 to 4 times (or more - the cylinder head guys hate to grind on cast iron after getting used to nice clean aluminium) what you could buy a perfectly reasonable (although not state of the art) cast iron race head for. The only reason that I can imagine having a new cast iron head ported now is to somehow dominate vintage racing in your area...

Do you have an uprated, or a Cortina engine? I have a Ivey Cortina head, manifold and carb if that's what you need.

    Default Fiesta head not legal

The Fiesta head is not legal since it's not specifically authorized by the FF rules. You need either a standard uprated iron head or a Pierce aluminum version.

How can you tell an uprated kent 1600cc head that came on a Fiesta from one that came on any other uprated Kent 1600cc engine? Seriously. The last Fiesta engine I took a core from was a long time ago, and I thought the head was identical, to the part number. I use it as a jig to build headers on. Is there a list of casting numbers that are legal somewhere?
