    Mike,

I think the FF race from this year is still yet to air on speed, I believe the date is Jan 5th? I can't wait to see it myself, sounded like one heck of good race!

My DVR has the FF race set to record on Monday the 5th. I think the origional Speed schedule has it on the 7th so it must have changed. DO NOT rely on this info. Check your local listings !

    Default Runoffs

    Mike,

I checked DirecTV. The FF race is listed as 1:00 pm eastern on Monday the 5th.

I tried calling the SCCA 5 times to place an order for the Runoffs video. Each time I got voice mail and left a message. I've yet to get a call back.

If you called any time after December 24, it isn't surprising you got no answer - the office is closed until Monday Jan 4. (This isn't new. The office closes between Christmas and New Year every year.)

The DVD set is available through the scca.com web site. You must login (right side of the home page third "block" from top). Then click on merchandise tab.

    Default Wow

Just watched it, what a race! Close racing, a great variety of cars, good coverage. Great race Mike particularly with the carnage in front of you! Did that one car go over your wheel??? Good comeback Jeremy!

Just watched it as well. Very good racing. And didn't that starter have a good lookin' hat?! (A friend from Winnipeg, he was wearing one of our 'BlurredVisionRacing' hats)

Now, just 6 months until we go racing again, and it's been 3 months since the last one! Is there anything harder than watching racing when your car is in pieces in the garage??

    +1

It was refreshing for me and the whole family loved sitting down to eat lunch and watch SCCA racing on TV.

Then we longed for Low Life Riders and Barret Jackass so I changed the channel.

For the most part Speed TV blows, but every once in a while...

    Default Turn 14

    Mike,

It looked like Shulte clipped Treadway on corner entry. Treadway spun and you locked up in an effort to avoid hitting Shulte.

It does not appear that you hit Shulte prior to the contact between Shulte and Treadway.

    Good race up front!

I watched the contact a few times, and it wasn't until the last time I watched it did I see the car in front (Coello) check up pretty heavily in the middle of the corner. If you watch it again, and watch the car in front, the accordion effect sucked in the cars behind like toppling dominoes. It looked like everyone behind wasn't expecting the resulting slow down in the middle of the corner.

Helluva run by Jeremy after that, though.

Doug, Yea it's kind of hard to add anything to JT's drive. Standing in pit lane, you don't get to see much. After watching the race tonight, all I can say is that JT drove that poor car as hard as we worked on the thing all week. As you may know after blowing up 2 engines during the week, we assembled a used Loyning short block and head, oil pump, water pump, carb and intake, pushrods and rockers, flywheel, clutch and distributor from the pile of blown up junk we had in the back of the trailer. It was a true Frankenstein motor. We tuned it on the chassis dyno at the track the day before the race and kept our fingers crossed.
I'm damn proud of JT for the drive he gave with a less than 100% package he had to work with. That drive is why I spent so many years working with him. He gives 100% every damn lap he's in a race car and I respect that!

Knowing that, the run he had there is even MORE spectacular.

Wanna build my motor "in the back of the trailer?"

Mike- I would say the motor ran great.JT beat me down the front straight and Curtis Farley gave me the best motor I have ever had.

What was up with the pit reporters cutting everyone off in their victory lane interviews? It's not like this was a live broadcast, why the need to pull the microphone away from everyone mid-sentence? Very rude, I thought.

Other than that, by far the best Runoffs race of any to broadcast so far and not likely to be beat by anything else.

    Default DOH!

My DVR recorded the H production at noon, but skipped the 1pm FF, even though I have it set to record all "SCCA Runoffs".

I was bumming until I saw that it will be on again a 2am on 1/24.

Actually, it is done "live", or what is called "direct to tape". The shots you see are chosen on the fly by the director from what is available from the various cameras. Even the replays and fades for the commercials are done on the fly. When the hour is over, the tape is done. So, in the case of FC, the full-course yellow cut the time available for post-race interviews. That's why the seemingly abrupt endings.

They seemd to yank the microphone only when someone launched into a laundry list of sponsors. "I'd like to thank Goodyear, Red Line, my Mom, my little dog Skippy, etc, etc, etc." It was kind of abrupt but I can't say I blame them. Nobody likes listening to a driver rattle off the names of his sponsors.

    Default THE TIME CHANGED!?!?

After months of waiting... I did not know about the time change. I even invited friends over for burgers only to see NASCAR reruns. Thanks SPEED!
