Could be because IRL + ChampCar announced the signed agreement for the merge of the leagues for this season...

Tony George tried to steal the Cleveland GP from Champ Car/CART in the late 90s with the intention to run an oval at the airport. The city and promoter told him where he could go.
It's easy to see why it got cut from the 2008 schedule, it's Tony George returning the favor. Iowa may be the same weekend but does anyone really care about Iowa?
I wonder how the F2000 sponsors feel. I know of one F2000 sponsors who is not pleased with the cancellation of the event.

Not that it affects F2000, but can the cancellation of Toronto be far behind? they lost their sponsor months ago and haven't announced a replacement since; maybe they knew all along?

Race prep, support, and engineering.
Heck, F2000 should offer to run as the FEATURE race (larger grid and better racing) and find another series to be the second attraction
CREW for Jeff 89 Reynard or Flag & Comm.
So it seems that F2000 is Now the premier open wheel road racing event.
Can we figure out how to put on a show without the horsepower.
There really is no difference between our circus AND Champ Car.
As a matter of fact several people said our race was better than Champ car

From the Cleveland GP web site:
"For twenty-six consecutive years, the shores of Lake Erie have come alive each summer when the Grand Prix of Cleveland roars into town for the annual celebration of speed at Burke Lakefront Airport." I did not realize the event went back that far.
I imagine the race weekend brings a ton of money into the city. You'd think they would want to keep the event happening. With over 50 drivers signed up for the F2000 series, that race could be a good draw if combined with another desireable race. Too bad it is so late and all the other series schedules are locked up.
"I love the smell of race fuel in the morning. It smells like victory!"

The Cleveland race brings about $30 million in economic impact to the city.
Wonder if the Montreal F1 still has availability? Perhaps if we all agree to pay a little more for entry fees we could get on the docket? Count me in for $30K
Brendan - you could certainly raise the bar in terms of sponsors in Montreal vs. Cleveland
I hear the Port-O-Potties are cleaner up there too!
Frenzy 88 thanks for the compliment. AND Yes Jed I to would put up extra money to race with F-1
