    Default PIR Double National

The weather treated us good as I can't remember seeing a cloud for the past 3 days. It was a bit chilly in the mornings (low 30's), but it warms up quickly here as soon as the sun comes up and provided mid-60's afternoon tems.

Scott Dick made the trek West and tackled the challenge of learning a new car, re-learning a track from a decade ago, and knocking the rust of a few years off....all during a National event. He only ran the first National as he had some other plans while here in the Valley of the Sun and he did take the first Phoenix F1000 National win on Saturday when, while leading, I broke a header with about 5 laps to go.

Unfortunately no other FB's made it out.

I struggled with a chronic throttle oversteer the entire weekend, but we threw some stuff at it during the race on Sunday that got the car hooked up and I was able to start knocking the lap times down a bit. I actually feel that my driving style was contributing to the throttle oversteer and some effort on my part to help the car transfer weight better really worked well too. We never got down where I think we should have been, but the track wasn't ripe for really quick laps. The reigning FA track record holder was 2 seconds off his record time and I don't think the FC's got below 1 minute....even with some of them being the Zetecs. As a comparison, my fastest lap ever at PIR in my FC was a 1:02.

I re-set the track record on Saturday at a 1:01.3 and then dropped it another second on Sunday to right around a minute flat. My dash showed a 59...something...and Dustin's stopwatch showed a 1:00.1...and the official results got delayed for a protest or something in another class....so we'll wait for the mylaps to see the new track record.

I'll post more later and maybe Scott has some pics....
