PASA legal?
Marshall,
Why not? You'd be at the pointy end of the Yellow group for sure...
I haven't talked to Larry yet about how they will be classed....but I hope to this weekend.

That Clark is a talented fellow! Matt, The car looks fantastic!
Jon
Very nice looking car! Wish we could import it into Gran Turismo for a quick test drive on the Ring.
In racing, the only thing better than cubic inches is cubic dollars.
Matt the car looks awesome.

why do the Phoenix and Stohr entries have the engine air intake above the drivers head (hoop)? I didn't find a specification for this location in the rules. It seems to me that this disrupts airflow over the rear wing and increases the cars drag coefficient? On the Stohr car which I have seen in person I find it disproportianately tall. Can dual side intakes be implemented onto these cars? Therebye lowering the height at that section of the car. I see the F2000 cars with the cool little intake scoops feeding the induction system. Can we do that in F1000?

In no way do I claim to be an aerodynamasist (sp??) but look at F1. Thier air intakes are above the drivers head. I do agree that the Stohr looks a little tall in the air scoop area, but both of these cars are absolutely gorgeous.
Someone else will have to chime in on the location, but i beileve it may have something to do with the airbox location on the mc powerplant.
If I am not mistaken, on Sean O's beautiful 96 conversion, he relocated the air intake above his head also.
Damn, this car is a piece of art!!!!!!!!!!
Matt, if you ever need a completely inexperienced driver with virtually no seat time to do some testing, let me know

I'm not sure what is happening, but the illustrations above appear distorted (not accurate width-to height) Is it just my computer? There is one posted on the DSR site that looks correct (and a lot better!) Matt??
Clark
Clark, I also noticed the difference on the sports racer forum. Not your computer. Does look shorter on this site.

Actually its also in part with how the forum shows attachments to fit inside the dimensions of the site...
If you have the latest Internet explorer 7.0 then click on one of the photos below. when it loads you will have to click on the photo again so it can be viewed at 100% its original size..
Otherwise.. if you dont have IE7.. then just right click on the photo.. then left click on ..save target as.. save it somewhere on teh computer.. then open it and make sure you are viewing it at 100% of its size..
Looks so amazing Matt..
Congrats.
Only thing to me when viewing the image right is the rear tires look large.. are they in actual perspective to the rest of the car scale..?
side intakes are possible.
Clark,
I've tried a few things to change it....but it comes out the same every time. For those that are members try this link....

As far as the airbox issue...here's a little perspective...The center of the F1K.07 airbox is 2" lower than that of the Phoenix DSR/CSR. I would guess from the pictures that our airbox is 6" to 8" lower than the Stohr car as their scoop opening is entirely above the hoop.
Our best estimate right now is that our custom ram-air box is the way to go. It makes proven HP on the dyno and we felt that in a class with no engine modifications allowed....we wanted to keep that added HP.

I find that if I click on the image, it will open in a separate window and looks correct.
This may be a problem Mac computers only...
Clark
Matt, that could be the reason they get 180 HP!
No need to thank me. I'm glad I can help point these things out.
I'm still looking out for a newly paved track near you so you can easily set some new track records.
(just joking around of course. Tossing gas on the fire, stirring things up. I'm taking a break this week from giving Sean a hard time ... :-).

Clark (and others),
This isn't specific to Macs or PC's, it's a product of the vBulletin software which ApexSpeed runs on. When large photos are displayed in forum threads, they are automatically being resized down to 600px wide (with constrained proportions). It does so by forcing the resize in the browser, which is why you end up with badly distorted artifacts in the image.
The best way to avoid this problem is to size your pics to a maximum of 600px wide before posting them to the forum. Like so and so:
Cheers,
Rennie
Still looks distorted. The top 6"-8" of the air scoop have been cut off.

Now that is what I'm looking for, Rennie. Get that thing up in the clean air where it can make some real power!

Damm Matt... did you have to copy Lee?
Seriously, your car (and Lee's) are great looking cars. F1000 is an exciting class to say the least. Can't wait until we start seeing them on the track.

I agree. I think both cars are beautiful and the class will be great. I can't wait to see the other entrants. Its like waiting for the new F1 cars to show up to the first test. I cant wait until they meet on the track.
