Default FF Dimensions?

I've read and reread the GCR but can't find any definition of the min/max length, width, or wheelbase of a Formula Ford. Surely there's some well-defined "box" that every FF1600 must fit into, but I can't find it.

Any hints?

I was trying to find that in the GCR also. So we can be as wide or narrow and as long or short as we want?

Thanks

Default Dimensions

The dimensions aren't listed as such, but there is a diagram showing max/min in the formula car section.

Where is that, Larry? The only one I find is in the Continental section and is clearly titled "F-2000 SPECIFICATION".

Actually, at one time that picture was for both classes. Somewhere along the line someone in Denver decided that it must have meant F2000 only because of the wings and changed its position in the GCR.

Gotta just love the rules drift that we are subject to!

Default That's IT???

Wow, you'd think for as thick as the GCR is, they'd do a better job of it.

The only figure I see is on page FCS-31 -- smack in the middle of Formula Contenental -- with a partial table of dimensions on FCS-32. The diagram calls out max front track but not rear track; max rear width but not front width; min wheelbase but not max; 'track' is apparently drawn as the center of the tires but it's not defined, etc...

I'm not heading into the garage to design my own chassis or anything, but I did kinda expect there to be some rules about how wide/long the car is allowed to be. Well, the class has survived 30+ years without dimensions so I guess it's not a real problem.

Jim,

This document from the BRSCC (British Racing and Sportscar Club) has the UK rules for FF with a 1600cc Kent engine... including dimensions etc etc. It's not SCCA, but the diagram at the back is what appears in the GCR I think.

Default Dimensions

From the Cooper Tires Formula Ford 2000 website:
CHASSIS: Cars must have a minimum width of 120 cm (measured at the center of the wheel) and a maximum of 185 cm (outside rim of the wheel). Cars must be no longer than 420 cm from nose to tail, with a minimum wheelbase of 200 cm. All cars must be flat-bottomed between axles, but diffusers are allowed behind the rear wheels. Cars may not be taller than 94 cm.
