Default MZR oil pump to replace MIA Elite pump

I sent the oil pump from my MZR powered DP-08 to Elite engines last November for a rebuild. Seems that was a huge mistake. It is now May, and I still don’t have the pump back. Nor will Elite give me an ETA for the rebuild. Yikes. I need another option so I can race this summer. I spoke with Doug at Fast Forward in CA who says can build a replacement pump for me, but he needs measurements and I don’t have a reference specification. Nor do I have the pump so I can take measurements. Any ideas on how I can get a working pump? Does anyone know of a spare - even if it needs a rebuild I could send it to FF.

You might reach out to Bob Wright. Bob has a couple of the MZR cars and may either have a pump or know where one could be located.

After talking with Doug, I took some pictures of my Elite oil pump and sent them to Doug. I don't use the generator mount, so I'm not sure if that will help him help you. But he at least has one more data point.

Thanks, Dave. I spoke with Doug after you pressed send. I am shipping the oil pump and pedestal from our other car to Doug tomorrow. He plans to make a replacement pump and pedestal. Also a pump for you?

Hi, John. Bob was the first person I called. He’s always generous with his time and I figured he might have an answer, or at least a hint on how to find a solution. Well, it turns out that he too has his oil pump at Elite, and he too was getting no response to queries on ETA. I’ve now spoken with Doug at Fast Forward who states he is able to build us a pump, albeit without the magneto on the same shaft. Doug built one for Daniel DJ Gallifa in the Philly area a couple of years ago and apparently it is working well. Without the magneto it is a total loss electrical system but with the appropriate Li battery, DJ claims he can manage fine on race weekends with a good battery charger.
