Hewland Mk5 rebuild

Hello everyone,

I have a Mk5 Hewland that requires a replacement CW/P. Is it possible/advisable to source a replacement from a used VW transmission and have the pinion shaft modified to match the one I'm replacing (ie, to Mk5 dimensions)?

Also, is it possible/advisable to use any of the aftermarket "Heavy Duty" VW CW/P products (modified accordingly)?

mk5's don't use a standard VW shaft or ring.... the older mk4 and mk6 used a variation of the VW splined shaft but also require different gear hubs. there was a discussion on this recently
