Default Help reducing front spring rate

I'm trying to go to a 3 leaf front spring. I'm looking for advice on how to use the center grub screw and not separate the leafs when tightening the screw. Do I re-contour the screw or the leafs? Use less torque? If so, how do I determine the correct torque? I have a vintage vee. Thanks for your help

I'm not certain I understand what you are trying to do, but .. it seems that this subject was pretty thoroughly covered about 18 months ago when you asked a similar question.

    https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/sho...ht=spring+pack

Did you forget that post or is this something different? I had composed a lengthy response to this one and as I was typing, I remembered a similar query some time back. A search turned it up only to find out that you were the originator of that one too and I had already typed up a response then as well .

So..does the link above answer your question here? Or is there something different you want to know?

    Default Spring rate

    Steve:
I think the question is more ...how do I fill the space created when 1 or more leafs ( leaves) are removed from the spring pack. Yes, this question was answered ( by me) on 5/9/19

    DD:
You did not say whether you are trying for 3 TOTAL springs ( advise against this as the car will bottom ) or removing 1 solid leaf and leaving the half leafs. Either way, the space created has to be filled somehow.

Thanks Dietmar. Sorry I wasn't more clear with my post Steve.
