    Default Vees at Monterey?

Have Formula Vees ever been invited to the Historics (or whatever the hell they're calling it now)? Or are they too low-budget for such a class act? So many famous drivers started out in Vees and many have greater histories than a lot of the cars that get invited, maybe we can lobby for a "Featured Marque" some time. Like 50 vintage Vees, they could all paddock in the space John Mozart's rig usually takes up. :-)

Default Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (RMMR)

I went to my first Monterey Historics in 1983 and have been to most of them since as either a spectator, crew and last year as an entrant.

To answer your question, no, there has never been an FV group for that event. In fact, last year was the first year any FFs were allowed into the event with the largest ever single group of 55 cars. Off the top of my head, there have never been any FSV or FC either.

They have a lot of draw as the premier Vintage event in the country so they really get to pick what they want for the 550 cars that can fit in the paddock and within the 14 or so groups. Even F1, CanAm and a few others are staggered every other year. The event is the centerpiece of "Car Week", which really goes almost 2 weeks.

    Default FF

Actually the year that Lotus was the featured marque, 1995 I think, they invited Lotus 51's and one Lotus 61 ( I believe from New Zealand) was allowed. Steve Thein in a Lotus 51 that I had restored won the class. Vern Jaques in his Lotus 51 took home the Group Trophy.

Forgive me Roland! I certainly bow to your experience! Besides, the early-mid 90's were quite a blur for me.....

Please no. Let's enjoy FV for what it is and what they are.

Let's enjoy the event for what it is.

No need to tarnish either the class, or the events' reputation.

Unfortunately, I have never been able to acquire any history on the car. I did email Gerald Swan at Lola Heritage. The chassis log shows HU97 was Invoiced to Carl Haas (as Lola’s North American agent) on 25 May 1977, it was fitted with red bodywork and gearbox number H91665, it was one of the final T328s, only two more were built (18 built in total).
