    Default Avon ACB9 mounting?

I purchased a set of Avon ACB9 tires (FF spec/size) from Roger Krause, and now need to get them mounted. They are replacing the Dunlops on my Mallock.

Krause says to mount them using the directional arrows on the sidewalls.

Sasco website says "Ignore any directional arrows on the ACB9s. Follow the diagram with the code facing right in the rear and facing left in the front."

Looking for any real life experience whether it makes a difference.

Or am I overthinking - again!

    Thanks.

    Steve

The SASCO information has been used for years and keeps the tire rotational direction the same. Mounting based on the arrows says by definition they are not directional as they are rotating in different directions L vs R. May not be critical and they are often swapped, but the SASCO recommendation came from Avon years ago and accounts for any directional characteristics in the tire construction/ layup. Todd

Thanks. I had found the same recommendation on the Avon site, but it only seemed to address slicks.

I'll likely ask the mounter to follow the Avon/Sasco recommendation. But, unless I'm missing something, while this means that both fronts are rotating the same, and both rears are rotating the same, the fronts vs the rears are rotating in opposite directions.

I'll assume there is a method to their madness.

Yes there is. The clue is fronts only longitudinally in braking. Rears loaded both directions (braking and accelerating). Todd

Excellent point, and makes sense. Thanks again.
