Default Is there an FV history/marque guide?

I've been looking for a compilation of FV chassis/bodies in either book form or on the web. Anyone have a good resource with photos of the various models produced since the beginning?

    Thanks!

    David,
I'm not aware of any 'book' of that description. There have been a couple of books on vees that describe a reasonable amount of them. I did a google search on 'formula vee book' and found a number of them .. probably ALL of them. Most are no longer available though.

I have compiled as much of the history as I could scrape up a few years ago from the web. You can see that at

    http://formulavee.us/history.htm

There is also a 'Picture Gallery' in the link list on the left hand side of the page that shows a few of the cars with what captions I could come up with.

If you are looking for something specific, I might be able to help. But probably don't know much more than what is on those pages. I can say that there were an unbelievable number of 'one-off' cars built in home garages starting around 1965. It would be impossible to even guess at how many. The book by Andrew Schupack is probably the most thorough but copies are really hard to come by. I've SEEN a copy, but have not been able to read one. Andrew actually came to one of the FV Anniversary reunions a few years back at Roebling Road. Maybe the 40th reunion?

    There is also
    http://formcarregistry.com/

The ARCHIVES section contains a few references to early publications and the REGISTRY section contains a goodly number of early cars, but almost all are 'formcars' - the basis of the beginning of the class .

    There is also
    http://formulavee.org
The FV forum that has an extensive history of the class since .. don't really know how long, but it goes a LONG way back since it was the earliest known FV forum on the internet .. guess that would put it around the mid 80's. There is a search engine on it, but I'm not sure how well it would work since you don't really KNOW what you're searching for.

If you compile something yourself, I would love to 'host it' on the web on any of the 3 URL's mentioned.

OH.. just remembered.. there is also a website for the Beach Racing cars
    https://www.beachracingcars.com
with 2 sections about Formula Vee. Gene Beach started out building IIRC the FIRST serious competition for the FormCar vees, back in 1964.

    Default there was an organization

FVI (formula vee international) who put out an excellent monthly newsletter AGES ago!

of course I threw all mine away in the late seventies

VW, that evil company which produced all those cheating and polluting diesels, used to support the class and had some publication that featured articles once in a while

Your original question got me interested. I spent a couple of hours and came up with this

Formcar - several versions from ~1962 till about 1965 - the origin of FV, based on prototype from Hubert Brundage
    (full story on http://www.FormulaVee.us)
Crusader (1964 Chuck Tatum) - BOOK - Vintage Aamerican Road Racing Cars 1950-1970 - Harold W. Pace and Mark R. Brinker
Beach (Gene Beach) - several models - Search Results -- http://www.beachracingcars.com
    Bobsy -- https://fillmanmachining.com/bobsy-fv-registry/ and https://www.apexspeed.com/forums/sho...a-Vee-Registry
Caldwell (Ray Caldwell) - several models -- https://www.facebook.com/groups/218519351638951/
    Autodynamics -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autody...r_manufacturer)
    Zink (Ed Zink) -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zink_Cars
    Shadowfax, Ringwraith (Harvey Templeton specials)
    Viper (only 5 built)
    McNamara
    Tsunami
    Elfin -- https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F..._Shane_Lee.JPG
    Sting (Stan Townes - oneoff)
    Glamdring (Mark Edwards - oneoff)
    Splinkie (Jason Braswell)
    Lynx (later known as Caracal)
Citation (Steve Lathrop) - 2 or 3 models
Mysterian (Larry Bacon) - several models - at least 3)
    Protoform (Dave Green)
    Anduril (Brian McCarthy - oneoff)
    Laser (Jerry Knapp)
    ASP
    WASP
    Predator
    Scarab
VDF (Tom Kaufman - now Vee Sport Racing)
Vector (Greg Bruns - now Terry Abbott)

    Speedsport (based on Citation)
    Womer (Ed Womer)
    Racer's Wedge (Stevan Davis - only 3 versions - 3 cars)
    Vortech (Rod Stout)
Vorsha (Greg Bruns - original builder of Vector)

These are the ones I could FIND, or my feeble brain could REMEMBER. I also added some links to books I ran across and some other informative sites. They are in rough (REALLY ROUGH) chronological order - again mostly from my 'brain', so don't hold me to any other correlation .

    Hope this helps.

    Womer FV history

My first car was a Autodynamics mark 4 or 5 never sure which one. I decided to build my own car and purchased a home built car nearly done that was a clone of the Zink Z12? with a D 13 zero roll. I finished it up and it became the EV-1 Ed's Vee design #1.

After winning the MARRS series in 1987 I decided to move up to national racing and built my first car designed by me which became the EV-2. I only ever made one of this version and still have the car.

After two years of attempting to get to the runoffs unsuccessfully, I made some changes to the design and bodywork and that produced the EV-3. I have made 16 chassis and I still have the first EV-3 and with the chassis #3 I switched from 1 1/4" OD front and rear hoops to 1 1/2" OD. This was because SCCA raised the minimum OD from 1 1/4" OD to 1 3/8" go figure. After the first chassis was damaged in the oval race at the Pro Vee race at IRP I decided to make a new chassis, #6 with the 1 1/2" OD because of the rule change. I did some different side tube placement for the side protection and have used that design since.

I sold chassis #6 in 2011 after the runoffs and it went to Canada and was sold three years later to Dermot Ennis who still has the car. I have actually driven it twice in the Challenge Cup Series when Dermot lent it to me.

I got to drive a Formula First car last year and have decided to come back to racing and will finish up the First car I was working on and drive that this year if and when racing resumes. It will be the EF-1 Ed's First.

Yes I will still build a Vee but only if someone orders one.

    Ed
